safety?
By burned, 1/4/10
The fire alarm went off in our room due to a microwave incident and no one inquired as to what happened or if we were okay?

Nice getaway
By Cynthia, 3/5/09
Beach access is close and has a very pretty boardwalk entrance. The view from our balcony was amazing; we enjoyed watching the boats come into the inlet. Our room was clean and the bed comfortable. The staff were all friendly and helpful. When I first entered the lobby, I was a little afraid that we'd made a mistake... the furniture and colors were from 35 years ago. Our blanket had bleach stains and one large hole in it. The building is definitely dated, but adequate. Our three day stay was a happy one, and we would stay here again, knowing what we do.

Better than expected!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/28/08
One of the reviews that we read about this resort had my husband and me worried that we had really picked the wrong hotel for our trip to Florida but we were quite pleased with everything. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and clean and the view from our room was gorgeous. This is an older hotel so don't expect The Ritz but you aren't paying for The Ritz. You are paying for a small scale family owned hotel with everything a family needs to enjoy Florida. You will be close to a spectacular beach, some nice restaurants and enjoy a nice relaxed atmosphere. Do not believe the negative reviews...this hotel is great.

a step back in time
my husband and i stayed at the hotel last november, as a stopover on our way to the keys. we were pleasantly surprised. the room was huge! it was like stepping back into the 70's, which we didn't mind at all. so often newer rooms are small and cramped, but this room, with it's own small balcony, was very comfortable. we enjoyed the rooftop restaurant, with the totally cheesy, but amiable piano player. we're planning to return because we love singer island. going to bring our daughters this time. i hope the place doesn't get torn down and be replaced with another monolith resort. that would be sad.

Good for the money...
By Pelter, 10/24/06
We stayed there for 2 weeks this October on business. People were nice and the rooms were nice and clean. The remote net access was fast and the water pressure was just fine. There were a few loud mouthed local idiots that congregated at the outside cabana bar after 5:00 pm. One local was from Tennessee and was so obnoxious, GWB this and GWB that. I was tempted to yell off my balcony..Hey stupid! No one cares what you think about the President or your politics! There are people here trying to relax! A slingshot would have come in very handy. All in all it was fine for a place to crash after a hard days work. I had a nice time there.

3rd time visiting
By David, 6/12/06
I have stayed at the Sea Spray on 3 occasions and have always enjoyed their "Jazz packages" for a quick 3-day getaway. In the past, the best part was the great value, especially considering the great food that is included in the package. On my most recent visit, we noticed that the food wasn't up to the past standards. We found out that the old chef, who had been there for 20 years recently quit. The breakfasts were good, but the dinners left a lot to be desired. Also, the bed was absolute torture! Quite possibly the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. The plywood under the mattress should have cued us on this. The staff is friendly, but the place is pretty neglected. Evidently, the owner doesn't like to spend money. We saw lots of patched up ceilings in the hallways, probably from leaks after hurricane Wilma. I probably wouldn't go back again after this last experience. It's a shame because it really was a cool, little getaway.

Great location but
By chippybird, 7/18/05
The hotel is on a lovely beach, the lobby is nice, there is a very nice penthouse restaurant with a beautiful view. The room was spacious but could really use updating. There was a bad leak in the bathroom from the toilet & the bathroom pocket door needs to be replaced as it was very hard to open & close. The lighting in the room was terrible. All in all, I'd go back but would make sure that the things I mentioned were corrected or I would take another room. It wasn't fun to have a wet floor & a problem door. This could be easily corrected & our stay would have been more favorable.
