We can't to go back
By lori h, 07/03/08
My daughter and I went to the Beachcomber Resort, in Pompano Beach Florida and it was a great place, the employees who worked there were very professional. The were polite and helpful if we needed help. The location of the Beachcomber was great, right by the ocean front, it was a peaceful place to vacation, the upkeep of the resort was good , how they take care of the gardens around the resort were nice to look at, the palm trees and other types of green tropical foliage, the rooms were nice and roomy, we had a kitchenette, we had a refrigerator , kitchen table and chairs, a coffee maker a kitchen sink and a microwave oven. The view was just great, just to sit on the balcony and over see the two pools and the ocean was enough. The Beachcomber is unique and unlike any of the most other hotels or resorts because of the structure of the building is different, very Floridian style and built strong.I plan to go back to the Beachcomber resort and Villa, soon again, I would recommend the Beachcomber to everybody. We just loved it.

HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/26/08
When the four of us arrived in Florida and went to our outdated hotel, what an experience: Hotel old and outdated Hotel dirty and unkept Rooms dirty, walls not painted Bathroom dirty mould in tub area Not enough towels or chairs to accomodate four people need to ask for more Personal at front desk unpleasant sour looking faces, never smiled or was upbeat to there clientale Stayed three days, received wrong rooms, paid a arm and leg for rooms not worth it Spoke with several other people they were not happy, they also got wrong rooms and also complained about how dirty rooms were When you complained at the front desk they would just look at you as if you were stupid and shrug there shoulders did not care about clientale's feelings, they did not offer anything to compensate you for THERE mistakes HOTEL RATING "0" ON MY LIST WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO MY WORST EMEMY!!!! BUYER BEWARE DON'T LOOK AT THE PICTURE'S VERY VERY DECEIVING, DO YOUR RESEARCH CARFULLY

Disapointment
By Jeremy T. Eyre, 04/16/08
Beacombers resort and villas may be the worst lodging we have EVER stayed at. When we arrived it seemed that it would be the "perfect getaway." With its own beach and two pools it seemed perfect for a nice retreat. However we checked in, to a two bedroom villa, and made our way to our villa through some negelected landscapping. In front of the "villa" there were dirty towels and garbage laying on the ground everywhere. Once in the room we found it in need of major renovation. No air conditioning, which wouldn't matter if you could open the windows!!!! The "kitchen" had no utensils or plateware. The bed cover was too small for the mattress making it imposible to sleep as it would constantly come off if you moved at all. As a result we woke up on the mattress itself. The toilet was constantly running in the restroom. The decor was outdated and overused. The T.V. in the living room was MAYBE 15 inches. To add to it all we made a point of smoking outdoors (they make it abundantly clear you will be charged for smoking), and as we were leaving the front desk asked us if we had smoked in the room. We told them no and they said the maid thought we did and had already charged us $250.00!!!! After the called the maid to the desk she stated that it was from the night before we checked in. With no apologies or anything they removed the charge and it seemed as though they didn't care they made the mistake..... ~grossly disappointed!

Will be going back for sure!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/05/08
This place was fantastic, the Ocean View Room was prefect, lots of room, nice furnishings, great mini kitchen...balcony/view out of this world. The beach was awesome, this hotel is right on the beach, beach is clean, you pay for lounge chair/ cushion and cabana, but no big deal. Resturant was good (only had breakfast), happy hour at bar is recommended, 2 for 1 drink. Pool(s) are great, tiki bar opens just before noon...what could be better! Marty at the concerige desk was most helpful. Luis and staff at the beach/pool were great. My family and I are certainly going back.

Can't wait to go back!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/13/07
Before we left for our trip I read many reviews and there were a lot of poor reviews for the Beachcombers. When we got there (the first week of August) I wondered if those who wrote bad reviews stayed at the same hotel. The hotel was one of the cleanest I have stayed at. The employees soooo friendly and helpful!! The rooms extremely clean. No stains on the carpet as I read, the bathroom extremely clean and the room made up every day before we returned from the beach. Steve at the Tiki bar outside very friendly as well. We stayed on the 7th floor where you need a key to get to that floor so it felt safe. We also had a beachfront room which I'm sure made a difference. The balcony nice and big with lounge chairs so we could watch the sunrise and listen to the ocean at night. The resturant, well... it is good for a quick fix but the food (lunch) not so great and watch the bill, they add the tip on your bill. We didn't notice until we had already tipped them for almost a whole week. I can't say enough great things about the hotel and GREAT location. The beach not crowded in front of the hotel We can't wait to go back. DO: rent a car, you will need it to shop and eat at other resturants. Eat at the Hops Brewery it was great and Bubba Gumps, it is fun, they ask you trivia questions about the Forest Gump movie when you place your order. It is across from the beach and nice little shops all along the strip Dont: Eat at Seawatch!!!!! Rude and not friendly, we actually got up and left after placing our drink order.

Funky hotel, but it's right on the beach!
By Mona, 08/09/07
Overall, my family and I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The front desk staff was very accommodating. When we arrived our family of five was told we'd have a room with one king size bed. That clearly wouldn't work, so the staff upgraded us to a room with 2 double size beds and a small kitchenette right next to the pool. We went to a nearby supermarket and brought in food so that we could have meals whenever we wanted. That was nice -- made our stay convenient, very comfortable, and fun. We could come and go to the pool with ease, eat in the room or by the pool, and the beach is mere steps away. The hotel's funky because it seems kind of old and worn - doesn't have any glitz or the feel of a newer hotel. We didn't partake of the hotel's restaurant, but did get food from their outdoor barbeque one weekend day. It was fine. They have a small bar by the pool which I also did not use, but there were many people using it and they seemed happy (there's a happy hour 2 for 1 drinks which I'm sorry I didn't get to take advantage of!).

Would love to go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/12/07
We had an oceanfront room that was amazing. All the rooms seem to have the upscale furnishings (Tommy Bahama Catalog style). Our room had a large balcony, two lounge chairs, and a magnificient view of the ocean, well worth the extra $$. But I don't think you can go wrong staying there regardless of the room you choose.
