Looking for peace and quiet? It's not here
By Janet, 3/24/11
Extremely disappointed in the picket line in front of the hotel and the constant noise they created. Nor did I care to be woke up every morning by them walking up and down the alleys surrounding the hotel screaming into megaphones that this was our "wake up call and check out time"! The picketing went on from 7 in the morning until 7 at night. When they were leaving in the evening the picketers went up and down the alleys shouting the same things they do in the morning. When I called and asked if the police could be called I was told the picketers had a permit and there was nothing that could be done! Please check into this before booking as I was told this had been going on for 7 WEEKS!!

WOW--1st CLASS
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/6/10
Bismark,Adam, and Rachael to just name a few are fantastic. The rooms are comfortable and warm. The bathrooms are loaded with towels. The bellmen and support staff are ready to jump to serve. They remembered our names and greeted us each time we returned. If I needed anything such as ice, it was deliver promptly and with a smile. The only thing I would change(FIX) is the steam room and sauna. The food is great in the Palette. Can't wait to return.

Lovely hotel but a little lacking
By Lulu, 4/2/08
I booked our 4 night stay at the Madison, via Priceline.com. I had never visited DC before and after looking at the hotel website, I was very excited to get to stay at such a lovely hotel. Upon arrival, we were able to check in early and staff was very friendly. Our room was delightful…the view was nothing to write home about…but the flat screen TV was great and the beds were very comfortable. However, things seemed to go downhill from there. Our room was lacking the many items that were listed on their “room amenities” list, including robes, a coffee maker, and drinking glasses. After 3 days, our room had not been cleaned, even once, but there had been evidence that housekeeping had stopped by…new bathroom amenities had been tossed on our desk. When we called the front desk, we were told that it would be cleaned immediately, so we left the room, and returned an hour later and nothing had been done. When we approached the front desk, they were unsympathetic. Finally, our room was cleaned, but we weren’t given towels, or even toilet paper. Also, when I approached the front desk to borrow their listed “use of complimentary umbrellas”, the woman at the front desk was very rude and told me that they didn’t have any and they only give them to guests. When I informed her that she was the individual who checked me in 3 days prior, she just stared at me...and when i asked the doorman, he gave me two...so they DO have them. I do have to say, the Doormen and Concierge were WONDERFUL and very helpful.

Top-Shelf Service & Style
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/14/08
I have stayed at The Madison every time I am in Washington. It is exceptional in terms of its grandeur and style, as well as service. Turned down bed with a mint on the pillow, a yellow rose with my room service breakfast, These are the things that remind me of my stays at The Madison.

Go on the weekend
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/24/07
I've stayed at this hotel many times. Service is great, the rooms are very clean, and 24 service with anything and everything you want. I plan on going back to the hotel on the weekend to relax. They have AWESOME rates for weekends! I haven't had a problem yet - not to mention all the hotels around them are under renovation!

OUTSTANDING for under $200
By SEAN, 2/11/07
there are better hotels nearby, if you have another $300 to spend per night. - close to the white house - close to many dining options - european-style feel to the hotel everyone was very helpful - front desk, operator, concierge, bell stand, etc. only drawback: hotel parking was $31 per day

The best hotel in Washington!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/27/06
Never before have I encountered such professional, courteous, genuine staff as I have at the Madison Hotel. You really are made to feel at home in all areas of this property. Ambience abounds within every square inch of this hotel. I couldn't imagine any better experience than the Madison. They also have a former White House pianist, Robert Smith, entertaining in the lobby Monday through Wednesday. Who could ask for more!!

Not up to 5-star standards
By VU3USJ, 8/8/05
As a former resident of the neighborhood, I had high hopes for the Madison. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Requests for service went unanswered. Laundry was not picked up despite leaving a bag on the bed and it was returned late. The shower curtain was crusted with mold. After complaining, it was replaced with a slightly less moldy curtain and the old one was left on the bathroom floor! Front desk staff and concierge were friendly and proficient, but overall not a pleasant stay.
