Sheraton Crystal City Hotel, Arlington

Despite staying in this hotel every time I come to DC (approx 15 times a year) I could not get an exception to the penalty fee for a last minute and unavoidable trip cancelation. Even though I have been been a Platinum member for the past few years, I will seek accommodations elsewhere from now on. I am sure their competitors will make policy exceptions from time to time.

We had to give the hotel our credit card for incidentals and was told they would charge $50 that would be refunded. That was December '09 it is now June 2010. Even after calls to the management, our card has not been refunded.

The hotel has definitely seen better days. The lobby is fine but the rooms have outdated furniture and there was a nasty spot on my bed cover the night I arrived. The location is convenient - just a few steps to Crystal City Metro Station. The service was comparable to other hotels in this range. However, I stayed in much nicer hotels in DC for about the same price. I don't feel like I got my money's worth.

Lobby looks like it was renovated but I don't know what else has been completed. They wouldn’t give me a discount for parking ($90 for 4 nights) even though it was under construction. There is limited street parking. The garage is below the hotel and I would suggest taking the smallest car possible to be able to manuever the tight turns. They don’t have much for amenities or food choices. There is a weight room on the 15th floor with a jacuzzi. I never went upstairs to see it. I asked about the pool, there is none. Didn’t even have HBO in the room without it being an additional charge. I couldn't figure out what channel to watch because there was no TV Guide within the TV channels. I have cable at home and it has a channel so I can see what is now playing. Gave me a dirty refrigerator which is provided if you request one. No microwave. The room smelled like 30 years of smokers. It was just gross except for the lobby. Positive: It is close to some historical landmarks.

I had to stay there five nights. I called the front desk for a wake-up call every night. I only received the wake-up calls on three of the mornings. 60%. There was something like a broken cover plate from an electrical box protruding through the carpeting near the windows. If you have to stay here, wear heavy shoes at all times to prevent cutting your feet on the sharp metal protruding through the floor. There was nowhere in the bathroom to hang your towel. Small curly black hairs from a previous guest were stuck in the broken back of the hand-held shower head. The bathroom door did not properly close because of the missing strike plate.

I attended a conference at this hotel this past week and I hope I never have to return. Over the course of three days, there was never any soap in the bathroom; the pitiful excuse for a buffet in the dining room was complete with Wonder bread; no service provided in the dining room, many of us finally had to BEG someone to take our money and check. I have complained to the sponsoring company, as many attendees promised to do. Do NOT ever schedule anything at this place.

My daughter is in D.C. with her 8th grade class. I recieved a call yesterday, April 25th that she had a sore throat, fever, chills etc...Her group was scheduled to arrive at the Arlington Crystal City Sheraton at 10:00 p.m. With the help of the front desk clerk (Shanekya)I was able to make arrangements to have a prescription called in to a nearby pharmacy, Shannekya had another employee stop by the pharmacy and pick up the prescription. It was at the hotel when my daughter arrived. Thank you, it is nice to know that there are still people who care.

This was a great location from DC. There were plent of restaurants nearby and the fashion centre is right up the street. There is the california pizza kitchen up the street which i just love.

great value,great location,park and forget traffic,everything incl shopping,entertainment in walking or Metro distance

I enjoyed my stay because of the proximity to the Metro and when I left the hotel, I had no worries whatsoever. I had the peace of mind, while still being in the big city. The rooms were clean and the staff helpful. I didn't swim in the pool because I had no time, but it looked nice. The one negative comment I would have is the parking facility. At the time when I went there was some construction that was going on and there was some hassle with me leaving my car there after I checked out to go into D.C. Overall, I enjoyed everything about the hotel. Why not, you're in a great city! Thanks!!!
