Be Careful of Your Luggage
I stayed at the Hyatt Arlington for 3 nights. The hotel was clean, and the room was perfectly adequate. The staff was perfectly friendly and up until the point where I stopped back by the hotel on my way to the airport I could have given the hotel a good review.
That morning after I checked out, I checked my luggage in at guest services and received my claim ticket since I didn't want to cart my luggage around all day. When I came back that afternoon for my luggage I had a rude awakening. They had given it away to some random person. They didn't accidentally give the wrong bag. No, they just thought these people didn't have enough luggage and gave them my bag as well. Claim tickets apparently are worthless here. But that wasn't the kicker. It was one individual that gave my bag away. It was the management staff that dealt with the aftermath.
They gave a good enough show while I was there. They made calls and tracked down the bag. They echoed sympathy across the board. They got me a cab to the airport since I certainly wasn't catching the bus I planned to. They ASSURED me that they would arrange for a service to deliver the bag to me next day delivery. One of the staff would call me later that evening with the tracking number as soon as it became available. I left for the airport with the belief that I would get my bag with my medication, passport, cell phone charger, glasses, car keys, house keys, office keys, and etc. the next day. Someone managed to get spare car keys to me at the airport so I wouldn't have to leave my car there.
No one from the hotel called with the tracking number. When I called the next day someone found the number for me. When I called the delivery service I found out that I wouldn't be getting my delivery that day. It was sitting in Ohio, but that they would schedule me for Saturday delivery, and call me the next morning with the delivery time. Later that afternoon, the hotel called me to check status and then seemed far more concerned that they were paying for next day delivery than that I still hadn't received my luggage. The next day I called the delivery service again and found out that I wouldn't be receiving my luggage until Tuesday because they were closed on Monday.
As soon as I left the hotel, the management felt no more need to put on the show of concern. They used an inefficient delivery service that I had never heard of. They washed their hands of the situation because they blamed it all on the one employee who gave up the bag. I transfer that blame to the entire staff, because one mistake followed another. I will not be visiting this hotel again, and the Hyatt in general has a black mark in my book. Be careful of your luggage and the management staff if you visit this hotel.
