I was robbed by the housekeeping staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/23/09
I stayed at this hotel to attend Obama's Inauguration Ceremony. The room is a basic hotel room for the money. The noise from the street was terrible (if you are a light sleeper you will not get any rest). But the worst experience was when I realized that my Obama souvenirs, Coach leather clutch bag and of all my makeup was stolen. I last saw my things because I folded them and packed them away at 1 am. I left for the swearing in ceremony at 4 am and I came back at 10:30. During the time I was gone the housekeeper “cleaned" the room for the day, later that night, when I started looking for my things they were GONE. The only other person that had access to my room was the housekeeper. When I reported it to the hotel they told me that the "Inns insurance did not cover this situation and when they ran a lock report it did not have any suspicious activity." They did absolutely nothing. I felt so hurt and violated. I know that everyone is trying to save money but it is worth spending the extra money somewhere else.

Convenient Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/02/08
I had business in the area and the hotel was less than 2 blocks from it. Convenient to the Metro. Rooms were clean and those working the counter were very nice. I have stayed here before on business and would stay here again.

Not much to write home about
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/07/08
The inn was in a good location and was clean. That is the end of the story right there. Room was tiny. Towels and blankets were paper thin. Price was reasonable.

Hotel Fire!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/16/08
The hotel started on fire while we were staying there on December 19, 2007. There were flames coming out of a 7th floor window but the employees kept turning off the alarm! After 5+ fire trucks came and put out the fire the hotel moved us from our room that was badly damaged by the sprinklers and smoke into another room that was also damaged by water. Employees were telling prospective guests that it was just a "problem with the sprinklers." The whole situation was dangerous and unlawful. I would never ever stay at this hotel!

Great Place to Stay!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/17/07
We stayed at the Red Roof Inn this past week. We were a little nervous about booking this hotel after reading reviews on some other sites, but do not hesitate to book this hotel. We were very satisfied with our experience. It is within 2 or 3 blocks to the Metro (which is very easy to use/figure out) and within walking distance to many great restaraunts and DC sites. The lobby is extremely clean and taken care of and our hotel room was beautiful. We stayed on the 3rd floor and our room was so nice and clean! There was a nice size bathroom, desk to work at, and very comfortable beds. The staff was very polite and checked us in and out very quickly. I can't remember his name, but the front desk guy who works overnight is very, very nice and helpful. We left early in the morning for DCA and he helped hail a cab for us and was so polite. The area was pretty safe; there were always a lot of people around and cops seem to be everywhere in DC. I would without question stay at the R.R.I. on H Street if I ever were to return to DC.

Very convenient- but thats it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/27/07
GREAT location! Given that it is located in downtown DC, the hotel is walking distance from almost everything. For the price, dont expect much in terms of room and other amenities which will include common courtesy from the hotel staff. The staff were rude- no matter who was at the front desk.

good price for location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/23/05
clean excellent location: within walking distances to many attractions and DC Metro reasonable price; service and size of room compatible with the price recommended for traveler to whom a hotel is only some place to sleep; amenities sparse

Good place for the money!!
By KimberlyR, 07/24/05
This hotel was clean and in an excellent location. Very short walking distance to the Smithsonian. I was very pleased! It was very affordable, with a friendly staff. The only thing I missed was that there wasn't a pool or jaccuzi.....but for I guess that's what makes the other hotels extremely expensive. Overall, I was extremely satisfied and would recommend it to the average working family.

For a downtown hotel, this was very reasonably priced. Decent location. Helpful staff, and clean.
