It worked for us.

Whether or not you'll approve of Sunrise depends on your priorities. We wanted a place to hold a family reunion that family members could afford, most or all could attend if only for a brief time, and we would have private places to gather to exchange stories and historical photographs. We didn't want to have to worry about meals or to have to plan every moment and still have options for all in attendance to keep us happy.
Sunrise supplied all of the above. Mr Johnson made sure we had the places to meet. Each place, a house, a baseball diamond for our ball game, and the pavilion were perfect for our family.
We numbered 40 (+), so we ate in our own section of the main dining room for each meal. The food was okay, some dishes better than others. If what they originally served for portions wasn't sufficient, the staff willingly supplied more.
The staff was very hospitable. We were always greeted cheerfully. They listened to our requests and did their best to meet our needs. By the end of the weekend many called us by name and would stop and check on how our stay was progressing.
True, the rooms and grounds crave attention but our family overlooked this and focused on our purpose of meeting and talking. Some never swam or partook in any of the activities, while other family members did it all. The best part was being able to meet for short periods, go our separate ways, and gather again for hugs, laughs, and stories.
