Our favorite getaway!

After being guest at Tall Timber for over 15 years, I can truly say that both my wife and I really treasure our time there, and consider our visits one of the highlights of our year.
Located along the Animas River in SW Colorado, the property is surronded by National Forrest. Therefore it cannot be reached by any roads so instead you can choose to arrive by a Resort provided helicopter or as a passenger on the historic narrow guage Silverton Railroad out of Durango.
Your initial impression is one of awe. Located in a valley, the sothing sound of the river pervades the absolutely quiet of the surroundings. But, this is not in any way a "camping" experience. Tall Timber offers 5 star dining at your private table located 800 ft. up the valley with spectacular views of the scenery below. Your accomadations are luxious. Our villa is two floors, with the King Bed upstairs along with a bath, shower and hot tub. On the first floor is a wet bar, two sofas, chairs, dining table and a beautiful fireplace, always kept at the ready.
Even though the isolation of one of the main draws, there is no lack of things to do. They have a 5000 book library, hot tubs, pool, golf, horseback riding, and a working antique soda fountain and juke box. Hike, take the helicopter high into the mountains for a picnic - it just does not get any better.
New to Tall Timber is the addition of Soaring, a Top Tree Adventure unlike any in the world. If you want to soar through 150 year old Ponderosa Pine trees for over a mile, and reppel down from the tree tops to the forest floor below, this is the experience for you. Safe, yet exciting - a try family adventure.
Tall Timber is so unique that words fail to adequately describe the experience - the fact that we keep coming back perhaps says it best.
