Nothing special if you don't golf

First of all, there was no problem with the staff (except the Manager who did not want to reverse the charges of 1 night's stay because I checked out within 10 minutes of checking in)...They were very polite so this isn't against them...
The hotel is very set aside from the main roads, so if privacy is what you seek, maybe this place is good for you. It has a very nice entrance and is off the main road.
When there are golf resorts such as La Costa, Four Seasons, Fairbanks Inn, La Valencia Resort...why would you stay here, unless of course Morgan Run happened to give you a better rate or you really like the course...
The hotel is old. I think it may have been quaint in the '80s...but now it's just old. To me, quaint is the Arctic Club in Seattle (look it up).
I didn't even realize there was no pool (only there for 10 minutes)...but how could a resort have no pool? The rooms are old with fireplaces that look like an animal may be hiding in the soot and crawl out in the night.
The rooms are not small, but furnishings are quite antiquated. Each Bottom floor room also had a small yard, nice for laying out or if you have a dog (if that's permitted). No question the room was clean, but the grounds were old. Old carpeting, old furnishings, pretty outdated all around.
The reason we left that night was that the rooms were very musty...I do understand this is San Diego, but I've lived in San Diego less than a mile from the water, and never did I have smells like this.
When I sat on the bed, the sheets were actually damp from humidity! When I told the manager this, she told me that "Yes the rooms do have a smell, but it usually goes away within a few minutes with the Air Conditioning." What! I don't care if the AC helps or not, I don't want my room to smell like when I leave wet clothes in the washer for a week!
The buildings face a parking lot, so if you aren't getting up at 6am, then you will hear all the golfers that do. I checked in at 10pm and could hear the few people crossing through the parking lot at that hour. I noticed that many other reviews stated thin walls. You can hear everything and this wasn't for us.
If you don't golf, it's probably not worth it. Not a place for kids, or those who just want a room and want to hit the beach. Pick a nice MicroSuite from the Hilton or Marriott...We ended up in the Hilton Homewood Suites for about $40 bucks less a night.
Location isn't bad, neither is the staff. But they need to dynamite the whole place and start with some architecture outside the '40s...
