Wedding Visit
By Thoros, 5/27/12
We were in town for a wedding which was off property. Another party did have a wedding here and I think it would be a great place for a small wedding. The hotel is an older property, but to me, was well maintained. We had a top floor, king size bed, with a private balcony which was right on the beach. Beautiful view. Yes, you can see other people on their balconies, if you're nosy. The cabana was directly below us but stopped service at 10pm, so was not a bother to us. The beach attendants were friendly and helpful. Hustled to set up our chairs, umbrella, and offer towels. They never stuck their hand out and we never felt pressured. Nice guys. The room showed it's age, but was very clean and the bed was one on the most comfortable I had slept in a long time. The weather was perfect so we never used heat or a/c. The only thing we heard at night was the pounding surf, most relaxing thing I have ever heard. (I live inland). We didn't stay in the room much anyway, we were at the beach! There is a $20 per night valet parking fee, but we knew that up front and it was worth the fee. There were no suprise fees or secret charges. The pools and hot tub looked okay, but we are not ones to use them anyway. This is a family hotel but kids were not a bother. We were there before schools let out. One can easily walk all over town from the hotel. The staff was very friendly, front desk, valet and house keeping. We didn't use any special services (room service ect.) so can't comment on those. The Orange Inn, next door is a neat place for breakfast, beach casual and locals. I didn't see any great properties in Laguna Beach, so unless one wants to pay much, much more for one of the resorts out of town, I would recommend Pacific Edge.

Very Nice, But too pricey
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/2/11
As our first stay at this hotel, I was very impressed by the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the rooms and facilities, and the absolutely most comfortable hotel bed we've ever slept in. However, the $20 per night mandatory valet parking, the overpriced restaurant, and the less than spectacular beach will disuade us from staying here again. We'll probably run up the coast to Huntington next time

A Very Special Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/22/09
We have been staying here since the 70`s, because of the Great location. All anyone would need is right there, ocean, beach, quaint little town, great restruants. The rooms are nice, but we never spend much time in them, only to sleep and shower. If they keep raising their prices we will have to look for another place to vacation. They are not giving or doing any thing more then they did in the 70`s. The staff is fabulous!! Love going to the Beach House for breakfast, lunch or just drinks. We are really upset with the $12 parking, never heard of this! I think it`s GREAT they allow dogs(if well behaved). Yes,this is a very special place with very special memories, just hope we can afford to keep spending our vacations there.

Great location, but now to expensive!
By CEEJAY, 2/17/09
We have stayed here every year in May since 2000,Love the location and beach front rooms.Last year will be our last year as the rates have gone from $139.00 a night(in 2000) to over $300.00 a night for the same room..I do understand inflation ,but come on.They say it was because of remodel, but the only remodel was to paint the walls and paint the furniture, and added upscale bed linens.Bathrooms are still BAD. We continued to stay yearly mainly for the location. The new name change last year and no real improvement and $12.00 parking was not feasable for us any longer!!!We have made reservations elsewhere but still on the beach!! So long Vacation Village ,it was nice knowing you!!!

Great Location But Needs Updating
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/22/08
Vacation Village offers a great location but the accomodations and facilities are dated. To call this place "luxury" as the website does is a stretch. Positives: 1) location, location, location. Direct beach access and nice walk to the center of town. 2) bedding - sheets, shams and comforters nice and neutral. 3) Great toiletries - higher end soaps and shampoos. 4) great beach service - they will set up chairs, umbrellas and towels for you Negatives: 1) room decor (other than bedding) is dated; old carpets, old curtains, old bathroom fixtures and fittings, old kitchenette fixtures and fittings (I havent seen a fridge like the one we had in our room since the 70s!). 2) Very small bathroom. 3) While family friendly, seems popular with the partying crowd too - there was a ton of vomit in the alleyway of the hotel one morning, late night parties going on in a number of rooms, and we could strongly smell smoke (of the herbal variety) coming from our neighbors room at night and in the early morning. I will return to Laguna Beach - awesome place - but will likely not stay at Vacation Village again.

Location, location , location
By Sean Sullivan, 7/5/08
I just spend 3 nights at this property with 6 from my family(4 adults & 3 children). We had a 2 room suite that was right on the beach. I have to say that made our trip very, very nice. We even got to see some dophins as they swam by a few times one day. The room could use some updating for sure(especially when the rates are not cheap by any means). I may have not been quite so pleased had we not ended up ocean front with a huge deck. There is a grocery store about a block away. Downtown shopping district is about 2 blocks away. Shopping within walking distance. We didnt have to use our car the whole time we were there. During the summer Laguna offers a free shuttle that can get you around(it picks you up every 20 minutes). Overall we were very pleased but mostly becasue being right on the beach was more than I could have hoped for. The staff was freindly. Realy other than the rates being quite high vs. the overall quality of the room I have nothing bad to say. Get the oceanfront if you dont mind spending a bit extra- it's worth it. Sean sullivan

Great Location and Town -- Hotel is disappointing
By KathyD, 6/20/08
Location was amazing, we had room 139 which was directly above the shore line. In the evenings we could sit on the balcony and watch the dolphins. Short walk to center of town where the people were very friendly and the shops were very nice. Hotel does not have any kind of breakfast. No economical restaurants within walking distance for breakfast. We had a great dinner at BJ's which is within walking distance. The room was ok. Bathroom in desperate need of remodeling. This is an old building and is very much in need of renovation.

Amazing Location!
By Andrew Mason, 2/29/08
My family has been coming to this hotel for 25 plus years and have always been happy. The staff are amazing and always willing to help. In recent years the price has gone up and has made it harder for us to make it out but its still worth the extra savings during the year. I can't wait to head back this summer!

Great location!! Will book a weekend there again!
I liked that we could walk right on the beach, and hear the waves outside our room. Employees were very nice too. Our room had a big jacuzzi tub, who wouldnt love that!
