Two Bunch Palms Resort & Spa, Desert Hot Springs

I've honestly stayed at motels that were nicer, cleaner and more sanitary than this place. And I didn't have to pay over $400 for the privilege--more like $40. I don't understand how this place is still in business. Everything in the room I stayed at was old and dirty, and the entire place was in desperate need of repair. I cringed when I saw the grimy bathtub, the dust on the patio furniture (that I had to wipe clean myself), and the overall shoddiness of the room. All of the kitchen appliances were old and most didn't even work. I don't think it's too much to ask that a hotel room that costs $400/night is AT LEAST clean and somewhat new. The internet photos make Two Bunch Palms look like a palace, but, in reality, it's a dump. Not only did I waste my money, but also my entire weekend. I wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE. A huge disappointment. Do not stay here.

I've been going to Two Bunch for over 20 years. For over a decade, it was my favorite place on earth. I could be in France or Italy and think "Why am here? I could be at Two Bunch". Even after the place became run down, I still enjoyed it because of the excellent treatments, good food, peace and quiet and unsurpassed staff. However, in the past 5-10 years, things changed. Hollywood types always went there, but they use to be low key. They'd sit quietly and read their scripts and wear their bathing suit and robe like everyone else. Now, they speak loudly and wear street clothes, jewelry and makeup and they don't stop moving! The staff used to be quiet, polite and attentive and you always felt like your well being was their primary concern in life. Not so any more. The rooms are not and never have been first class. One never goes for the rooms. They are comfortable, roomy and clean, and that's it. The food always has been is is still good. The spa treatments are still first rate, but the scheduling staff is not as good. I live in L.A. and there are spas everywhere, but I still used to go to Two Bunch because of the vibe, but that vibe is gone.

One of The Best places I visited! If you need a Place to Escape from noise stressful City it is one of the Best places. If you are looking for 5 star hotel - it's not, however it's a place to enjoy nature, grotto, spa - without noise and stress.

we enjoy best the nude spa sea mountain spa or sea mountain inn since its always sold out we spend the night overnight at two bunch -its much larger then sea mountain inn and very serene but since we dont really spend time there cause we do late nights at sea mountain we cant vouch for the days-its got some very cool appeal and massage therapy at two bunch we have heard is phenom

Yes, Two Bunch Palms is overpriced. And it isn't spanking new or "nice" in the sterile and generic way that I suspect many of these critical reviewers expect a resort to be. But the hot springs pool, cradled by swaying palm trees, is a blissful experience like no other. It is magic, especially at night. And the cordial reception I always receive from the ducks, turtles, and herons at the pond more than makes up for any human failings on the part of the staff (and in my experience, other than some awful gaffes a couple of years ago, such failures have been nearly nonexistent). Over the past few years, this place has experienced ownership and managerial shake-ups which have made the quality of one's experience a bit unpredictable, but the waters will eternally charm. As will the roadrunners, the scampering bunnies, and the orchard dropping sweet loads of grapefruit.

This place is extremely suggestive of 'all things nice'! But once you are there, it is one disappointment after another. It is not kept up and the general feeling is dirty, unsanitary. This would be O.K. if one was spending much, MUCH less on the room. The photos on the internet page look wonderful, though misleading, as the room we stayed in, 2a, is really horrible. We have stayed in the Al Capone suite, and it is so dirty we wished we brought our own sheets and comforter. In our room, we did not use the shower as there was a low power stream from the showerhead AND there was no room to lather up !!! Much more not so nice to say, but you get the message.

My fiance and I spent a Friday and Saturday night there because we attended the Coachella Music Festival on Saturday in nearby Indio/Coachella. We paid (after taxes) $410 a night for the room, and TBP was far from a $410/night resort. Last time I spent that much for a room was at The Four Seasons in Vancouver, and I can say that *that* was worth it. TBP wasn't even close - that's why I gave TBP such a low value rating. The good - Nice and quiet, mellow, quests and staff leave you alone (if that's what you're looking for). Room was clean, bed was nice. The springs pool was nice to soak in. You can disrobe by lower regular cold pool if that floats your boat too - we were hoping for a bit more nudism, though, since we are really into that. It didn't really cater to that. The bad - A general cheesy feeling to the place is the best way I can describe it. The room was far from luxurious and felt run down. The food was sub par. No poolside service. The staff seemed nervous the whole time, and they were far from professional. The watsu pools were locked up. If you're looking for a nudist/naturist visit, this is not the place for it either. That wasn't made very clear in their marketing materials. I would consider staying at TBP again, but only for $200/night or less and only if I needed to stay in that geographical area. We didn't utilize the spa services either, so I can't comment on that.

I don't suppose the person doing my treatment was supposed to tell me that she had done facials on Pam and Tommy Lee, Matthew McConaghy (sp?), Jack Nicholson! I'm sure they must have to sign a confidentiality agreement or something-but this is what she told me when I commented on how amazing this place was! My facial was done in a room down a peaceful path after the soak in the grotto-then off to my hot rock massage-in a cabanna outdoors....out of body experience! Barb

Our room was far from the spa complete with dead plants and windows that did not open and we paid for the expensive private jacuzzi room. The spa water was cold. The people were not very nice. The best thing was the regular massgae but not the cranial massage. Go to one of the smaller places instead better value and nicer accomadations. This place is overated.

Two Bunch Palms is old, and you get the feeling they are skimping on the repairs and maintenance. I saw chipped paint, empty flowerbeds, dirty windows, and flies in the dining room. I had what was supposed to be a very nice room. It was all-brown and depressing, and there was no path between it and the dining hall and spa. To get a meal, I had to cross a grassy lawn, jump a stream (I am not kidding), and go up a flight of flagstone steps. The lawn was unlit at night, so I was walking in pitch blackness. In the morning, I had to dodge the sprinklers on the lawn. The one good thing... the staff and manager were wonderful and could not have been more helpful. All in all, not a good value.
