Racist Workers
By Jo Jo, 02/02/09
I never felt so low in my life. First of all the guy that ckecked me in was a caucasian really sweet guy. 10 mins after checking in my kids were still half sleep. No noise was even coming from the room, we got a RUDE phone call from one of the workers by the name of Mickey ,which wasn't the guy who checked us in. He claims that he already had gotten 3 complaint phone calls. So I tried to verify with him that this was the right room he was calling.I said,"are you sure this is the right room?". He then replied,"I'm calling you ain't I?". The phone was then disconnected.I called back and asked him why is he getting so rude? He answered,"the only thing I will be getting is you to the streets". Once again we were disconnected. Long story short, I feel like my family and I were discriminated against due to the color of our skin. I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here. Especially colored people!

Great Value
By Aintmisbehavin, 10/23/08
Staff was very friendly. Room was very clean and the nice view of the pool brought in lots of light into the room. We were quite pleased.

Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/21/07
First of all, the hotel is not in the best of locations (no where near the main attractions), but that was a minor flaw compared to the rest. The room smelled musty or mildewed due to a possible flooding and the carpets were never cleaned?? Went to take a shower on day 2 and there was no water, not even to brush one's teeth. We went to the front desk that was manned by some guy who wasn't dressed as if he represented Travelodge and puffing on a ciggarete. When we told him we had no water, he told us that they were working on the plumbing and wouldn't have the available part until late that night. No apologies about the problem at all. When we went to get water out of their bottled water machine (to brush our teeth) it was out. When we complained about this, his reply was, if we needed water, we could buy some bottled water from the restaurant next door. He had an "I don't care attitude" and was not the least bit accomodating. We've stayed in plenty of "Mom and Pop" motels that did not have the well-known name of Travelodge and have gotten better service and friendlier attitude then this place. I would not recommend anyone staying there. We won't again.

Very clean Motel
By Richard, 06/04/07
Great place and a great price...The motel was a little hard to find as it is close to the 1 freeway, but my navigator took me there without a problem. Good breakfast not enough chairs for the customers.

horrible hotel
By DJ Ksar, 02/19/07
The hotel is not in the safest of neighborhoods, the exterior of the room looks like a ghetto motel in crenshaw. Inside, the rollaway bed we requested had a holl in it, the outlets weren't working neither were the lights, the bathroom especially the shower looked like one from the 1970's, it was a cold room. I'll never stay here again! Pay the extra money and stay at the Hilton Garden Inn or the Hyatt.

Renovated and Improved
By Daniel, 04/16/06
I've stayed there many times in the 90's and it was showing signs of age. Hadn't been there in five or six years and found it to have been renovated with the rooms clean, nice, the bathroom clean and the quality of the place greatly improved! Considering the quality and the price it's a great value. I'd strongly recomend it

Travel lodge Monterey
By LaurenceE, 06/23/05
I liked the continental breakfast that was given. I was a little disappointed with the shower head because it was hard to switch the settings on it. Service was good. Although the room was very hot. We were facing Fremont and it was very noisy during the day and night. Other than that it was alright!

Don't stay here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/25/05
We were given a room with one bed for three people and the front desk wouldn't change it--they blamed the online service we used to book the room. We had to switch with someone else in our party who was given a room with two beds for two people. It's also very noisy--in the flight path of the Monterey Airport. There is no air conditioning and there were no screens on our windows. When we asked for a fan they said they didn't have any. When we went to bed the first night we discovered our sheets were dirty and when we called the desk clerk he said there was nothing he could do about it because housekeeping was closed and he couldn't leave the desk. We had to go into another room, strip the clean sheets off that bed and put them on ours (that was our solution--the desk clerk didn't offer one). Another party's toilet was plugged. The one positive was that when we complained to the manager the next day our service improved considerably--but no refund or compensation was offered. The protests/boycotts of the hotel continued while we were there as well.

Avoid Noisy Picket Line!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/07/05
While the service and price were right, I was surprised to find a very loud picket-line outside this motel. Travelers should beware that this hotel is under a boycott from the union that represents the workers.
