Howard Johnson Sea World Univ, San Diego

We stayed there in early Oct 09; and they gave us a second floor room (1 bedroom apartment) with 2 queen beds in the living room and another in the bedroom; no area to walk around in unit; tv does not have more than 30 channels; windows were left open prior to our arrival, possibly to air room??? It had a smell, when we entered. Most if not all electrical appliances, refrig, microwave, lights were plugged into an electrical extension cord; very dusty; rug dirty as we walked around room; we had to wear our socks;(cold weather). Water was shut(?) off for about 3 hours one night. But the kicker was that I inadvertently left my credit card at the front desk upon checking in and discovering it missing the next day. Checking the room, our rent a car; luggage, etc, I had to call long distance and have it cancelled. Upon checking out, they handed me my credit card, I asked them, "couldn't you have left a message, or call the room, and let me know?" The female clerks response, was "at least you didn't spend any more money." Hello?? That was not the point. I expected better treatment, considering the price. We stayed at 3 HoJo;s this trip; and by far this El Cajon location was the worse. Will never stay here again. Let's not even discuss the 'free continental breakfast.'

Your service was slow and the food was gross pluse when thay cleand the bathroom still smelt like there was poop still in the toylet.

Don't even bother! I could not belive they called this a hotel. I had to leave and go next door to the BestWestern. The please smelled bad, the bathroom had mold, the sheets seem unclean and the attendant/owner was not helpful. I would not take someone I hate there. Sorry!

I liked: the friendly staff, the good upkeep, the acceptable price, the breakfast, the free parking, easy-to-find location I disliked: well, I didn't really dislike anything. This is an old establishment, but they try hard to keep it well-maintained. You'll probably like it.

Clean and about 3/4 mile from SDSU campus, this is a good place to crash for the night without spending a lot. My AAA rate for a King bed was $64. Not fancy, and not particularly new. But the hotel seems to be well-maintained and the room was clean. Lights, TV and everything in room worked and the front desk clerk was helpful. He even gave me a great route to get from SF to San Diego without driving thru LA traffic (I-5 South, I-210 East to I-15, I-15 South). Free donuts/cereal/juice/coffee in the AM. Parking just outside the rooms is free, a pleasant change from some of the Hotel Circle places that charge up to $15 a night for parking.
