Far and away
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/9/12
I have been a frequent traveller to Santa Barbara over the years, including renting houses for summer vacation. We have stayed here many times with the family, ugly rooms, very dated yucky, but has a nice pool and was cheap then. Lat time we stayed there the couple next door was going at it all I ALL night long, we were with kids..and it was not good. Called the front desk, they did nothing. Checked out the next day. Far away from anything you'd want to do in town. Really not worth the money unless you're at Earl Warren for some activities.

Excellent value for money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/23/11
Clean, tidy and quiet hotel, short drive from town centre and beach with easy access to highway 101. Staff were excellent. Coffee making facilities in room, also available free of charge coffee at reception in the morning, beds were comfortable. A fridge would have been useful to keep drinks cold, but there was a ice making machine available Only slight negative was walls were thin and you could here noise from adjoining rooms. Ask for pool side room ground or first floor for the best locations. Cannot understand negative comments on other reviews. We did not use the restaurant, but it seemed popular with other guests and non residents.

DO NOT STAY THERE
By Sarah, 7/26/10
just got back home from the lemon tree inn and wished i would have read the reviews. The gentlemen that checked me in was nice, but everything after was horrible. Checked in at 3:3o pm and the room was not yet cleaned, and after it was cleaned it was still not acceptable for $175.00. I agree with all the other comments made. Absolutely a horrible experience.

Moving Up
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/13/09
Reading a previous review I was somewhat reluctant to try this Inn. However, it was recommended, although with faint praise, by a relative I was visitng who lives nearby. My first contact was by phone for a reservation and pleasntly surprised by her courtesy and helpfullness. Upon arrival the desk clerk was friendly and also helpful. The room was a bit small and showed signs of age but was clean and the bed comfortable. A balcony overlooking the swimming pool compensated for the size of the room. I did not try the restaraunt but had a pleasant drink at the bar and expected to pay more than I did for the drink. My stay was short and I though I received decent value for the cost. My only negative observation was the check-out process which involved entirely too much paperwork. In my opinion the Inn is good value, especially for its State Street location and I would stay there again.

Don't stay here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/5/07
We stayed at the Lemon Tree Inn during a family vacation in California, mainly for the pool and location. While we were swimming, a little boy vomited in the pool - a lot. We called the front desk immediately to report it. No one came to close the pool or clean it up. After 20 minutes, I went to the front desk and was told that people should have "the common sense to get out of the pool." I was also told that maintenance was busy. After 45 minutes, new arrivals started jumping in the pool -- unknowingly swimming around the vomit -- I returned to the front desk to ask that they close the pool and the employee was extremely rude. I called the Inn a few days after our trip to report the problem and was told by the manager that the pool had been cleaned. You know what, we were there. The pool was not cleaned. So unless you like swimming in vomit, I'd stay somewhere else.

Yuck
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/16/07
This place is just so old, and run down. For $185, I expected a little more. The room was dirty and made me want to wear my shoes inside. The room had zero luxury. The TV was old and made funny noises. The in room menu/TV guide was grease stained and old. This place does not pay attention to the little details so it makes you wonder how well they clean the place. The people in the next room were rowdy and noisy and the management would do nothing. They promised there was secure internet, but when I got there they made me pay an additional $7.50 for a password that did not work. The complaints I made to the front desk were ignored. They clearly did not care, because they get their money. I would never stay here again. I would be more happy just driving home.

Unbelievable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/3/07
This place was short on EVERYTHING, from towels to room keys. They even ran out of some basic food in the restaurant. It's noisy at night because of the bar. Rats in the courtyard. Horrible, horrible. WOuldn't stay there again for free!

Thumbs down for sure on this lousy place!
By Marc Carrel, 5/26/07
Very spartan accommodations for the money, dreary, depressing. But that was hardly the worst of it. The sound of water from people's toilets and showers was very audible and annoying. The chattering of drunken guests was also amplified. Seemed like frat party central the night of 19 May 07. Cardboard walls would do a better job muffling sounds than these walls did. And the beds are terrible. This place is way over-priced. I was charged $165 for one person for one room on a Saturday night, and that was supposedly with an AAA discount. I regret staying there and I am sorry that, in my haste to get out of there, I forgot to leave a tip for the poor maid who is forced to work there. What a rip-off this hotel is, what a dump!

Worst hotel ever!!!!
By Eric, 7/11/06
This Hotel is a complete joke. First of all, it is completely over-priced at $175 a night (with AAA card). The rooms were disgustingly dirty with loose hair all over the place and a sticky bathroom floor. The beds had springs sticking into our backs as we did not get any sleep at all. One person in our group ordered a moldy bagel in the morning at the Restaurant, and there were rats running around the pool in the evening. This isn't even the worst of it. Our group returned on Saturday evening at around 1 in the morning to the late night hotel manager standing in front of our place with an eviction notice for being too loud. We were not even at the hotel that evening so could not have been the ones making noise. He refused to listen to us and called the police on us. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! After the police came and left, since that was a waste of their time, I entered the lobby asking for the night manager's name which of course was refused to be given. I talked to the morning manager, who also refused to give me any names. The guy at the front desk also made me feel that I was the jerk. I was as respectful as I could be in this matter as I am quite mellow. So the only way I can hurt this god awful company is by writing reviews like this. This story is true in every aspect. I hope you will not decide to stay here as there are far better hotels in the Santa Barbara area.
