Very, very disappointing...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/15/08
I would not recommend this hotel at all. I'd suggest paying another $20-$30 for any number of other places in town for piece of mind. My room was very dirty.....dirt and grime on built up throughout the room..in the corners and baseboards. The toilet seat was very old and stained, etc. But, I was willing to put up with some of this in exchange for a 'bargain' rate of $49 for a small room. Then, I found used towels and washrags in the bathroom and a very stained bedspread. I initially tried to deal with this as I was tired from a day of travel but then I wondered if the sheets had actually been changed. I went to the manager and asked for a refund. This was about 2 hours after checkin as I went to dinner before I found the stained bedspread. The manager said there was nothing she could do. The owners were distant (live in San Fran) and she wasn't empowered to give me a refund. She offered another room but I simply wasn't comfortable with the property. The remainder of the property showed evidence of neglect. The pool area was dirty and the hot tub was 'cool'. I ended up eating the $55 room charge and moving to another hotel....an unfortunate lesson but worth the cost for piece of mind. The property is close to downtown and restaurants but not as close as some of the competitive properties.

Would Gladly Stay Again!
By JSmith, 04/01/08
This is my second time staying at the Gold Lodge, and I think that it is the perfect place to spend a quiet night near downtown, and not having to deal with the igidity of the "Big Chains" is great! The staff is very friendly and always ready to help with anything.

No Extra Key??!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/01/07
We stayed in this hotel once before. We booked the suite because it had enough beds for our children to all be comfortable. When I checked in, I asked for a second key. They said they didn't have one. They weren't kidding. The second evening we returned to the room about 10PM to find out the room wasn't made up. The clerk said they didn't have another key for the maid to get in! The vertical blinds were not installed properly so people walking along the outside could see us in our bed. There was only on waste basket in a room for six people. Someone also parked in such a way as to block the access for leaving the hotel. I complained about this the second evening but the situation was the same the next morning. We will not be staying there again. I did like the free internet.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/12/07
i absoulutly love the people at this hotel. it is a mom and pop operation and i like that. i enjoy the fact that they take time to talk to you its not like that at a motel chain. plus the trees out front are butiful

dont waste youe time, Beware of this "hotel"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/09/07
You would actually save more $ staying at a nicer place this place is run down, dirty and not as cheap as should be. I would sleep in my car before ever staying here again. I always thought the pool was for guests not the employees and thier friends and family. Dirty beds, 5 night stay $379.12

One Star - Very Basic
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/30/07
The motel was old and the rooms were small and very basic but clean. Hot tub dirty and could not be used. There is no fitness room or massage. There were leaves in the swimming pool. This is a one star property at best and definately overpriced.

What a quaint hotel!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/02/06
This is a quaint quiet little out of the way motel. Whenever we are in Sonora this is the one hotel we love to stay at. It is close to town and the hotel staff are friendly and nice. We have had the pleasure of staying there twice and cannot wait to go back.

Would Gladly stay there again!!
By Urban Cowgirl, 07/10/06
I liked it because it was close to town, and it was a cute small hotel!! I plan on trying to make reservations there for when I go back in September, that is if its not full due to the Celtic Faire!

would not stay there again
By JANICE, 08/08/05
The desk clerk was talking about her personal life too much upon our check-in. The room was not clean, there was still coffee in the coffee pot in the room I stayed in. When the maid came in to make the bed the following morning, that was all she did. Trash was still on the counter from the day before and the coffee pot was still dirty. I would expect to stay in a sleazy motel and not pay what I was charged for such terrible service.
