Not your usual Marriott...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/28/10
The rooms smelled like an old best western, baths couldnt fit anyone over six feet and the queen beds were actually twins. Use Marriotts exclusively and feel cheated: Overpriced.

Very nice
By Val, 01/10/08
My friend and I were attending the Dickens Fair, two girls by ourselves. We felt very safe, well taken care of. It was a short walking distance to the Fair. The restaurant was fantastic! We're coming back again this year.

Squeezing Out That Last Nickle
By Knight, 09/05/07
From the first voice of this Marriot I should have realized they were going to squeeze any nickle from me. The first call was to understand where to park, viewing their vast parking structure and the meager visitor/register parking spots. We had never been here before, so we parked. The voice had said on the phone "park anywhere out there in front, and they'll take care of you at the check in. You'll understand it all there". I felt the voice had clearly avoided my questions of how we use their parking structure when it was revealed we were to prepay for valet or self parking at the checkin! Even the Marriot in downtown San Jose has free parking for guests. I thought little of the charge, until I witnessed other such nickle and dime tactics over the 3 day stay. Who charges $5.20 for a beer? 5 even or 5 and a quarter or fifty cents...but their pricing strategies seemed to hide, then get the nickles as they can. 3.25 for the first 15 minutes of their computer room, and 25 cents every minute thereafter who does this?? It wasn't their fault it was 108 degrees by the wonderful pool, or that my date was hungry, but I elected to allow their "two gourmet chefs" in "Olio's Ristorante" prepare a chips and salsa lunch snack for by the pool consumption, seemed a great joy to share, and wonderful solution to our hunger. The salsa was a bit old (yes, my date was the one who brought it up and left the rest for me), but for me, it was the foam carryout 3 sectioned tray (like in Panda House) and what I got inside I objected to. The 3 sectioned foam tray held a sparse assortment of colored chips scattered across all 3 sections, about 5 - 6 oz of multi colored corn chips, about 3 tablespoons of salsa in a small plastic lidded cup for $8. I should have walked for better and more, at CJ Pharmacy, a half block north. At least I could have had some cheese too and had plenty for later in the room. Heck, maybe the "cheese also" idea could qualify me as a chef, and make I'd make it 3! It's not the money, charge me more per day, but don't cheapen my stay w/such unexpected cheap tactics, so that I am disappointed as my date sees my meager answer to her desires for a snack. (I know I set myself up on that one, but don't let your imaginations get the best of you because I can do double entendres.) There's a problem here, and in marketing, we call it "panic management". I can't speak first hand of the unsolvable a/c horror problems in the intense heatwave. We did hear of them first hand from guests at the pool and spoke superiorly that ours was working fine and was very wonderful. Our room was colorfully comfortable, wonderful, and the pillowed bed very appealing. The service staff were quick and gracious, and the rented adult tv movies were superb...but I left the place feeling like a low keyed grifter had taken over a hotel, in a chain I love to frequent. Even their "Courtyard by Marriot" serves a continental breakfast.

Our Daughter's Wedding
By Paula A, 05/26/07
What a nice place to have a wedding. The Grand Ballroom was just perfect. Easily accompanied all the guests for the ceremony, dinner and reception. It was very nice to have a place where everything could be taken care of in one place and everyone that wanted a room to stay in after the celebration.

HORRIBLE HOTEL
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/06/07
Reservations desk is unorganized, they were unable to find our reservations, turned out they were looking in the wrong place. After being gone from room for six hours, I returned around 4 p.m. and maid had still not cleaned my room. Vending machines do not take change but require a debit or credit card.

A FREE STAY??
By DANIEL, 08/17/06
AFTER BIDDING ON AND PAYING $350.00 AT A LOCAL RIVERSIDE CHARITY, FOR A ONE NIGHT STAY AT THE RIVERSIDE MARRIOTT HOTEL. WE BOOKED A ROOM, AND ARRIVED AT THE FRONT DESK, CHECKED IN, AND SETTLED INTO A NICE ROOM. WE HAD ROOM SERVICE, AND WATCHED TO MOVIES. AFTER BEING IN THE ROOM FOR SIX HOURS WE NOTICE A 2 AND HAFE INCH BUG CRAWLING ACCROSS THE TV SCREEN. WITH MY WIFE YELLED AND DIDN'T WANT TO STAY, FEARING THAT THE BUGS MIGHT INVADE OUR LUGGAGE, APPON CLOSER INSPECTION, I FOUND A FEW MORE BUGS UNER THE TV SET. WE PACKED UP, GOT OUR THINGS TOGETHER AND WENT TO THE FRONT DESK WITH THE CAPTURED LIVE BUG. THE FRONT DESK TOOK OFF THE BILL OF THE MOVIES $24.00 PLUS PARKING AND TOLD US THAT THEY COULD GIVE US ANOTHER ROOM. BUT BEING SO LATE AND LIVING JUST 3 MILES AWAY WE OPT TO JUST GO HOME. THE FRONT DESK ALSO SAID THEY HAVE SEEN THE SAME TYPE BUGS CRAWING AROUND OTHER PARTS OF THE HOTEL. WE WERE TOLD THEY WOULD HONOR THE FREE NIGHT STAY AT A LATER DATE.WHEN I WENT TO MAKE ANOTHER BOOKING AT THE HOTEL AFTER SEVEAL MESSAGES OVER A FEW DAYS, THEY RETURED MY CALL AND SAID THEY COULD OFFER ME A DISCOUNT OF $99.00 A NIGHT, AFTER ALL THE HOTEL TOOK OFF THE MOVIES, PARKING AND THE ROOM NEEDED TO BE CLEANED BEFOR THEY COULD BRING ANOTHER GUEST IN. WE WERE NOT ASKING TO MUCH FOR THE HOTEL...WE JUST WANTED ANOTHER ROOM AT ANOTHER TIME LIKE THEY SAID WE COULD. WHEN I SAID I BIDDED $350.00 FOR A ONE NIGHT STAY AT THERE HOTEL THEY SAID.....WELL IT WAS FOR A CHARITY. BUT THE WORSE PART ..IT WAS OUR 29TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AT THE SAME HOTEL CHAIN WE HAD ON OUR WEDDING NIGHT.

Excellent Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/04/06
The staff of Marriott took very good care of us. The front desk people were accomodating, but a bit slow. Nacho, the Head Bellman was terrific. He was able to get us where we needed to go. The cleaning staff was exceptional in keeping our room up to par. The amenities were in good repair and user friendly. The Marriott's location was ideal since our business was across the way at the convention center. If you ever have business at the Riverside Convention Center I would highly recommend the stay at Marriott. It's location and the friendly staff make it a convenient and enjoyable stay.

The Best Kept Secret in Riverside
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/29/05
Riverside is a beautiful little town. The staff at this hotel was wonderful, the food was amazing, and the city was nice. I was in Riverside on business and the staff was just perfect! They were helpeful and happy. The beds were comfortable, too. I would recommend the Marriott if you have buisness in Riverside or surrounding areas.

2nd best place in Riverside
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/15/05
Good hotel: Spacious rooms, quiet, good location, and friendly staff. We had some billing problems, which the staff ultimately resolved, but it took about two weeks.
