No fridge in the room. No microwave either. Parking was weird and difficult to figure out. First, why not just have free parking available like most hotels? This one isn't exactly in the heart of downtown or anything, where it would need to worry about too many people parking there. Second, they charge for parking (unless you're staying there - and even then, it's actually figured into your bill), so who would park there? Front desk staff was extremely unfriendly, but everyone else was very friendly. The rooms were clean. There was a big TV. The walls were thin, though. You have to pay for internet in your room, and it's $14 a day! It should be included in this day and age. The food I thought was decent, but overpriced as usual. This hotel loves to nickel and dime you (though it's more like five and ten you).

Typical Marriott
The Santa Clara Marriott is your typical Marriott. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The gym is small but it has the equipment you need to get a workout in. I stayed here three times last year for business. Marriott Platinum Member

Stay at the Hilton or Hyatt Regency
By FROM OC TO OAK, 01/26/08
Stay at the Hilton down the street or the Hyatt Regency. Both are far better than this dump. The rooms have those in wall air conditioners/heaters seen in motel 6, HI express and lower end hotels. Food is bad. Staff is unfiendly and unwilling to help. About the only positive thing I can think of is the beds were almost as comfortable as the Hilton and the location was somewhat convenient. Close to 101 and 237.

much better than my previous stay at this location...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/01/07
im a marriot member and have stayed at this location before. i stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms and it was beautiful. new televisions, the internet is easy, the beds are extremely comfortable as always. i must also say that the new colors(both carpeting and colors of the new rooms) are much nicer and warmer than before. i asked an associate and the renovation isnt quite finished, but it should be finished by summer/beginning of fall. i strongly urge any guests that have stayed at this location before to try their new rooms and see the difference. my only complaint was with the staff. the staff that i hardly interacted with(room service, valet, housekeeping) were very nice. the staff that i saw constantly(front office, waiters at restaurants) were subpar.

Our "Hatties" Experience
By JaVian, 04/25/06
Upon arrival to the hotel our party of 64 did not have rooms prepared. There were 46 students from the Junior High Jazz and Orchestra Band excited to start their four days and three nights excursion at the World of Music Competition in Milipitas. The Hotel Management failed to accommodate our party even though it was their negligence to have our rooms prepared. We, 46 students and 18 adults and our luggage, sat in the middle of the lobby for over four hours watching other large parties receive stacks of room cards as they arrived. My biggest complaint is the lack of communication that management maintained with our party who paid over $8000 for the stay. The most we receive was "I am working as fast as I can and your party is early." However, two hours after our arrival time, we were still receiving the same comments until it was brought to their attention that it was past our arrival time. In my opinion, the least amount of service that should have been provided is that our luggage could have been stored out of the center of the lobby and we could have been politely instructed to sightsee for a few hours. My second complaint is that students, junior high students, were placed on the ground floor with sliding glass doors adjacent to the parking lot. Service was rude, unprepared and lacked professionalism. I would not recommend the Marriott as a place that has good customer service.

OLD and OUTDATED
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/24/06
I hated this hotel. It was not clean and the room decor was very old and outdated. The carpet was filthy and the in room internet connection did not work. I'm a Marriott member but will never stay at this location again....Restaurant is also terrible.
