Good Bang for Your Buck!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/25/09
If you're looking for a decent, inexpensive place to stay at San Simeon, this is the place to be. The room we stayed in was very clean; the staff was friendly; and it's the only place that offers entertainment around the area on weekends.

Clean & great location but.....
By Diane E, 1/1/07
Beds very comfy but bring an extra pillow if you like lots of cushion, Make sure you stay on the 2nd floor as the walls here are thin and noisy if you're below. (we moved upstairs and were much happier). Rooms clean and the ocean view was wonderful. The restauraunt in the lobby is very pricey so we avoided it and drove in to Cambria for most meals. Another note, the drains aren't the best and we noticed this in both rooms. Overall, good price, good night's sleep, great view. ~Ragged Point was worth the drive as was the cute winery in Harmony, CA. Happy New Year!!

Don't stay here
By AnthonyB, 8/16/06
The location's pretty good. The room, however, was in awful shape. Water stains on the ceiling and on the walls. The beds were the worst I've ever slepted in. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here.

the best place to relax!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/22/06
My family loved this place. It's sooo quiet and peaceful. The best place to relax. Not too much amenities so you're stuck in enjoying the view and talking to your family, which I realized it's the best thing to do on vacation.

Great value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/24/06
The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable and the service was great. The menu in the restaurant had many items to choose from and my meal was great. Excellent value! Conveniently located to the Hearst Castle and beaches.

The best stop on our way home
By Miguel, 2/21/06
The price for the room was very good. They have a great bar and restaurant too. The kids had a great time on the beach, just one block away.

A good view for a reasonable price
By Theo, 7/12/05
We just returned (July 11th) from our stay at the San Simeon Lodge. Our reservation was for a room with two beds and, because we were paying under $100.00-a-night for this in the middle of the summer season (we stayed Sunday night), our expectations were fairly low. The motel is located across the highway from the sea cliffs, but we had a panoramic view of the sea (but not the breakers) and sky from our ground level room (Room 109). Note: The rooms around the pool courtyard do not have as good a view. Our room was clean with pretty basic amenities: a table with two chairs, dresser, night stand. Our beds were very comfortable. There is no sink outside the bathroom, so one could not brush teeth etc. when the other was in the shower, but there were full-length mirrors on both the sliding doors of the closet and an outlet right next to it, so one could blowdry or dry shave while the other was in the bathroom. There is no tub in the bath, just a small, unpleasantly tight-fitting shower stall. The water pressure was a problem with the low-flow shower head. It was difficult to rinse shampoo out of our hair. There was a 4-cup coffee maker, but no refrigerator to keep milk (or wine!) chilled. (They do provide artery-clogging powdered dairy creamer and sugar along with the coffee packets.) There was no Internet connection in our room. Rooms at the Best Western directly across the street were much fancier, but cost 2-1/2 to 3 times as much. Down the street, there is a Motel 6 with absolutely no view of the sea at all. So, overall, we felt San Simeon Lodge was a pretty good value for a room with a very nice view in a very accessible, convenient location.

Clean and Cheap
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/18/05
A good basic hotel. Close to Hearst Castle, across the street from the beach. San Simeon is pretty sleepy though. Maybe next time for a few more dollars I'll stay at Moonstone Beach in Cambria which is just a few miles south.

nmice, Cheap little place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/30/04
I didnt find any problems with the bed, and actually quite enjoyed our two night stay there. Although we did not use the pool area it seemed clean and had the weather been a little warmer, I would have been there for sure : ) Also there is a beach inlet right across from the hotel, it's beautiful.
