Holiday Inn Express Suites San Clemente, San Clemente

For all reviews dated before June 2009, those are no longer relevant to your stay. As Holiday Inn Express, the facility has gone through a complete renovation. It is now 100% non-smoking (that includes on the balconies!) and no pets are allowed. The rooms are immaculate; complete with a balcony, plasma television, brand new bed, mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. There is also a heated swimming pool, fitness center, continental breakfast (with the BEST cinnamon rolls ever!!!), business center, free parking and free WiFi access for all guests. The very friendly staff will do whatever it takes to make your stay a comfortable and satisfying stay! You will be pleasantly surprised!

If you like very clean, friendly, and tastefully decorated, this is the place to stay. Although located near the freeway, we didn't hear anything. The outside area was very clean and nicely landscaped. We will definitely stay here again. The breakfast was very good, staff very helpful. I felt the cost was more than reasonable. My sister and I surprised our mother with a trip for her 79th birthday. She is even more particular than I am about cleanliness. It passed her sock test and exceeded both our expectations.

I was worried that it wasnt going to be very nice because of reviews I had read, I found it to be very clean and was pleased the moment I opened the door. Just a bit from the beach but very easy to get to from the fwy.

super super clean! great bed! great cont. breakfast, great danish!!! desk people were really nice too. great price! the room we were in looked brand new. bathroom was perfect.

The luggage cart I used to move our suitcases had a flat tire making it very difficult to move it inside as the desk clerk watched me struggle with it. The bathroom door had a booger on it. The bed was right beside the heater so the hot air blasted right on you with no way to adust the direction of air flow as you tried to heat the rest of the room. Traffic noise from the I-5 was very loud making it difficult to sleep. There were "organic stains" on the couch cushion which I had to flip over to avoid seeing. The Bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The TV display was very fuzzy and most menu functions didn't work. I feel this hotel is way overpriced for what it is.

My dtr stayed at the Country Plaza Inn for 5 weeks! She found the surroundings clean and the staff helpful and courteous. The rooms had great ammenities like micros and refrigerators. The continental breakfast in the morning left a bit to be desired but they supplemented with their own foods. Overall she had a great experience!

Watch out the beach is no where near this place. It is nothing like an "inn" either. I dont want to see one more cowboy dressed in black walking back from the beach up that huge hill thinking because it had the word "country" in the title you would like it. WRONG.

The photos make it look a lot more attractive than it is. The lobby and patio area are certainly attractive. The rooms are clean but dreary. The walls throughout the hotel are bruised, giving the place a slightly grungy look. There are no views; the only views are of parking lots. Definitely a drive to the beach, no matter where the mistaken Google Earth program thinks this place is located. But...this is reasonably priced and can be a suitable place to stay if you just need a place to sleep. Also, our room was equipped with a kitchenette and had a free Wifi connection. It is a stone's throw from I-5 and a short drive to an Albertson's grocery store. One final note: An employee came banging on our door at 10 minutes to checkout to scoot us out. We could hear him doing this all along our floor. This struck us as rude and low class.

Very old and run down. The swimming pool was slimy and the room was less than clean. The front desk people were very unfriendly and borderline rude. The brochure photos are very misleading.
