Not clean , maintenance needed badly on rooms, air condition not cool enough or should I say not working at times. We stayed 8-19,20andchecked out early 21 . After visiting Catalina for a day we come back to our room with notice on bed , that water would be shut off from 11:00 to 6:00 AM. That means no flushing toilet. This is old ship I can appreciate that but needs a lot of work. They are playing on the fact that it's old you have to expect cracked mirrors , dirty showers , broken tables , no air conditioning at times. Maid serves very poor. Rooms service is also. Food in restaurant fair. Please don't be mislead by the pictures you see of delux mini sweet or deluxe king cabin.

The ship and its suites are lovely but the music you will hear in the first class lounge attached tp Sir Winston's Rsstaurant will be your most treasured memory when you from the ship Composer pianist Briqn Kelhenbach transforms well known melodies with elegant transpositions which call upon jazz and modern harmonies while never losing the original melody and its emotion. It is a virtuoso performance on a magnificent perfectly tuned Steinway grand piano which was designed and built in the Art Deco style for the ship's maiden voyage in 1937. My family recently stayed at the Queen Mary Hotel. This was our very first overnight stay. We had a Deluxe Stater Room Cabin. We also had a Harbor view which was beautiful. I had requested that in my reservation. The cabin had most of the original woodwork which was truly awesome! Yes, the ship is old and for those who stay overnight they need to understand and appreciate the history of this old ship. My family did the Russian Submarine tour which was great. The kids loved it. We also did the Haunted Encounters Tour which was also good. We had dinner at the Promenade Cafe. Our meals were big portions and very delicious. Monday morning we ordered room service for the kids. The breakfast food was also very good. We visited every nook and crany of the ship that was possible. The customer service of the front desk, room service and our waiter at dinner was outstanding. My family was very lucky that our whole stay at the Queen Mary was just wonderful. We didn't want to leave. Also, even though check-in time is at 4:00 p.m. you can still go early and enjoy the tours at a discounted rate. Just go to the front desk and let them know about your reservation and they will give you a temporary hotel card that you can show the ticket office for discounted tour prices. The valet also offers "luggage storage" where they'll hold your luggage until your ready to check-in or when your ready to leave. All in all my family can't wait for our next trip to the Queen Mary Hotel next year. It truly is a step back in time.

Amazing historical location Free range of the ship with room Comfortable, large bed. Very clean! As people have said, there are downsides to sleeping on an ancient ship like this. The walls are thin and the showers are old. That said, it is an amazing experience and totally worth visiting once. For the cost, it' not economical to stay many nights anyway. Don't expect the same level of 'luxury' you'd get for a similarly priced regular hotel, but the experience of sleeping on the ship and seeing everything they have is worth it.

It was built to cross the Atlantic and was used during WW2 as troop transport and hospital ship because she was fast. It was not Intended to a hotel , and really the only thing people did in their cabin was to sleep in. And steerage was very tiny.

I was not expecting a first class resort. This is a ship and an old one at that. There have been obvious restorations to the most visited areas of the ship; the shopping galleria, the hallways, the decks. They simply haven't made it to the rooms yet. The bed in our "first class stateroom" was horribly uncomfortable and they only provide one tiny pillow per person. The carpets need replacing; they are soiled and ripped. But the room was clean and somewhat cozy for the one night. We ate at an on-ship restaurant and it was quite good and reasonably priced. The Ghosts and Legends Tour was hokey, but fun, and gave a nice look into parts of the ship you wouldn't see just walking around on your own. We enjoyed our one night stay for the historical value and gimmick of sleeping on a supposedly "haunted" ship, but I won't be doing this again.

To say I was underwhelmed would be correct. I went with a large group to spend the night on the Q.M. I am disabled. Yes they had handicap parking and elevators. We had problems checking in, they charged a different price then the contract stated. That took over a hour to straighten out. Then the walk to the room was very difficult. There are no signs showing what groups of rooms are where, I.E. Rooms 400 - 450 this way. Only small little signs near each room. Winding hallways every which way. Several employees that helped us find our room said that there was a private elevator right outside our room and when we needed to go someplace call the front desk and they would send someone with a key to unlock it. We tried that, waited, finally after several calls to the front desk someone showed up only to tell us that we could NOT use that elevator due to liability. Dinner was another JOKE.. Almost 2 hours after arriving for dinner and placing our orders we got are food, or some of us did. Several of us including me did not get our meals until everyone else in our group was almost done. Many had cold food. And being it was a large group they added 18% gratuity. The women's restroom near the dining room was dirty, with no seat protectors, soap or hand towels. These are things that should be checked and restocked daily as needed. While our room was spacious, carpets and tiles needed replaced. A tile in our bathroom needed repaired. The tile came out while we were there. Then the grout came out and junks of grout where all over the floor. If you want to visit the ship it's interesting, however the hotel and dining facilities need a Major redo. If you have lots of money to blow great, personally a motel 6 would have been better in my opinion. We also visited Knott's Berry Farms chicken restaurant and they had no trouble accommodating us or getting our food out HOT and only charged us15% gratuity.

We have stayed at the hotel three times in the past five years. The first time it was great. The last two times were awful. Just awful. Never, ever again. How nice (or horrible) your stay will be, will depend upon two critical factors, of which you have no control. Again, these two factors are critical. 1) On what side of the ship is your room. 2) Are there any people in rooms on either side of you. If you are lucky enough to get a water side room (you can request it, but that does not mean you are going to get it), then you are half-way there to having a good stay. You can hang out the portholes, and the views are nice. If you get a dockside room, you are screwed. All of the power plants, the A/C generators, and the commotion are on the dockside. You will not be able to eliminate the noise. You are really in trouble if there is a concert going on, too. The "Room Mate Issue". The walls are thin and made of steel. You will clearly hear everything, and I mean everything, that goes on in the rooms on either side of you. The walls might as well not even be there. You will clearly hear the voices, the sounds of sex, farts in the bathroom, everything. I am not kidding in the least. However, if you are lucky enough to get a water side room (Starboard), and you have no one in the rooms on either side of you, then you just might have a good time.

I had a less than positive experience staying on the ship. Although the hotel is not cheap at all, the room had tiny uncomfortable beds. Since it's a cruise ship, I was assigned a cabin with no windows which I didn't expect at all. Nowhere on my reservation was it mentioned that there’ll be no windows. The pillow case had smudges of the previous guest's make up on it. And by the freshness of the smudges it was obvious that it wasn't a laundry mishap, the pillow case was simply not changed. That made me question the freshness of the rest of the bed sheets. The coffee maker had a used coffee in it. No one bothered to clean it either. The carpets strongly smelled like the carpets in a very old hotel should smell. The air conditioning system was recirculating stale cold air which made me freeze at night. And since the cabin door had a large vent in it, I could hear everything that was going on outside in the hallway. Although the hotel staff was friendly, they had a very slight idea about the parking situation. Here are the choices: parking in front of the ship is $15 per 24 hours. The cheaper alternative is to park at a Cruise Ships parking garage. This requires a short 5 - 7 minutes walk, and there is no way to drive up to the ship from there. The reason I ended up there is that I was going to park my car for 3 days, and according to the hotel staff the parking garage was $8 or $10 per day. I decided to leave Queen Mary parking and move my car to the parking garage. Leaving Queen Mary parking lot I paid $3 for 2 hours parking. When I drove up to the supposedly cheaper parking garage, it turned out to be $12 per 24 hours. So, all in all I ended up saving $6 per 3 days, which didn't not make much difference at all. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. For the price that QM charges, it should be able to provide a much better hotel experience. If you want to tour the ship, just take a tour, but if you want a comfortable stay, find a better place.
