Great for Pets, Not so Great for People
We have stayed here many times over the years and found the Lodge to be a bit, well, inconsistent. Our most recent visit in May '08 was VERY disappointing. Despite reservations made 3 months in advance, and confirmed 3 weeks in advance NONE of our requests were able to be handled on the first or second or third try. We asked for a king, n/s, upstairs room, away from the main drag, with early arrival. At early arrival we got grief for being early before being given two doubles downstairs, then a room on the main drag, then another queen room. Nope. Had to come back 3 hours later only to go through the same exercise. When we finally got a room with a king upstairs, it was VERY tired (ripped carpeting, mismatched furniture, stained carpet & furniture) and not very clean. For the price and the hassle it definitely wasn't worth it!
Additionally, their "bar & grille" is only a grill when the bartender isn't busy chatting up the regulars. We waited 20 minutes on a (pretty dead) Thursday night to PLACE our dinner order finally gave up and went elsewhere.
It will be a LONG, LONG time before the Lodge gets the opportunity to abuse us again. There are other facilities that accept dogs and don't make their humans deal with cockroaches (in the shower), ants, and cobwebs along with surly employees.
