Old and showing it's age but low cost
By I drive fire trucks, 07/21/09
The Los Gatos lodge is starting to show it's age. We attended a event in Saratoga and this was a good low cost option ($89 for a queen bed 2 people). The room was clean but the bed was too soft and springy for me. The pillows sucked. The room had a refrigerator and coffee pot. The room was quiet and overlooked the courtyard/garden. Close to everything in Los Gatos is the only reason I can think to stay here again.

Excellent Prices for OK rooms
By carolina, 01/26/09
I liked the Los Gatos Lodge for the low cost room charge. I work around the Los Gatos area and to find a cheap hotel is hard to find in this area. But Los Gatos Lodge has cheap rooms, they accept pets, the Gym was great, the out door patio was nice as well. I will come back to the Los Gatos Lodge and I recommend it.

You can do better elsewhere for a little more $$
By Charlene, 08/12/08
I stay here for a week at a time because I have business in town & the co. gets a corp. rate. In all my trips I've never seen a room like the one pictured. Perhaps some have been renovated but none that I've stayed in. Ask to see a room before you rent it. The hotel is aging & it shows. The mgmt is obviously just trying to hold it together until they can sell the property to build something new there. The staff are OK but not well-trained & they obviously hate their jobs, especially the restaurant/bar staff. The restaurant is supposed to be open until 8:30 but frequently shuts down early with no explanation or warning or even an "I'm sorry". Don't count on having dinner there. Just walk a mile down the road & eat at a nice place for the same amount of money. With few exceptions, the food is pretty sub-par. I don't think I've ever seen any of the staff smile, their communications is lousy & they are not going to go out of their way for you without being asked. The rooms are musty smelling though reasonably clean. The bright spot about this place is the grounds & the location. It is a big piece of property surrounded by trees & nice landscaping. Each room has an outside patio overlooking a well-kept courtyard & lawn area. It is conveniently located one mile from downtown Los Gatos & all the cute restaurants & shops. The rooms have fridges but not microwaves unless you pay extra for a kitchenette. If an inexpensive, conveniently located room for a night or two is all you need & you're not too picky then it's fine. Otherwise head over to the Garden Inn for a little more money or the Hacienda Inn.

Nice location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/16/08
The location was right off the freeway. The day we arrived, they had an outdoor wedding and the music was quite loud. The room was outdated but clean. Our balcony overlooked the courtyard. The hotel staff were helpful and we were given maps to various restaurants. We walked to these places but would not recommend walking to those that have health issues.

Great for Pets, Not so Great for People
By Deanna S.F, 05/31/08
We have stayed here many times over the years and found the Lodge to be a bit, well, inconsistent. Our most recent visit in May '08 was VERY disappointing. Despite reservations made 3 months in advance, and confirmed 3 weeks in advance NONE of our requests were able to be handled on the first or second or third try. We asked for a king, n/s, upstairs room, away from the main drag, with early arrival. At early arrival we got grief for being early before being given two doubles downstairs, then a room on the main drag, then another queen room. Nope. Had to come back 3 hours later only to go through the same exercise. When we finally got a room with a king upstairs, it was VERY tired (ripped carpeting, mismatched furniture, stained carpet & furniture) and not very clean. For the price and the hassle it definitely wasn't worth it! Additionally, their "bar & grille" is only a grill when the bartender isn't busy chatting up the regulars. We waited 20 minutes on a (pretty dead) Thursday night to PLACE our dinner order finally gave up and went elsewhere. It will be a LONG, LONG time before the Lodge gets the opportunity to abuse us again. There are other facilities that accept dogs and don't make their humans deal with cockroaches (in the shower), ants, and cobwebs along with surly employees.

Great for pets
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/27/06
We stayed in the lodge for about 6 weeks while on business in Silicon Valley. We have a small dog so needed a pet friendly place. The grounds and staff are great but the rooms are definitely aging a bit. If you've got a pet the lodge is hard to beat for the price.

Great place at a great price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/06
I was pleasently surprised at the many services the Los Gatos Lodge offers, such as complimentary breakfast, free wireless, room service, and a Bar & Grill. All this for only $139, rather than the average rate of $229+ charged by their competitors. The Lodge is by far the best cost effective choice in Los Gatos.

Bad experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/29/06
Worst hotel room I've ever had for the price. Furniture had to be 30+years old and in poor condition, air conditioner was LOUD and could not be adjusted, so you were either freezing and couldn't sleep with the noise or no air. Carpets were stained. Bed covers were aged and smelled badly. Bathroom window had open slats, which is extremely poor security---these are very easy to break into. I got a government rate, thank God, as I even resented paying the bill for that since I couldn't sleep thanks to the noise and smell.

Recommended!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/14/05
I've heard different things from different people about this hotel and as a native of Los Gatos I only recently had the chance to stay here. What a charming little place this is! We stayed in a kitchenette and it was perfect for our needs. Our balcony faced the garden area which was full of greenery and so many beautiful flowers. The only recommendation I would make is to have a restaurant. They do, however, serve food in the lounge area. What an enjoyable stay!

Great place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/27/05
I stayed here last weekend attending a wedding. I was impressed with the beauty of the grounds, the food was great, the rooms were a bit outdated but clean, a great place to bring your pet!
