still a hidden gem!
Very clean! This is an old "lodge-style" facility where you can park right in front of your room. Makes loading and unloading very easy. I know, some people have hesitation about that because other clients may arrive/leave when you're sleeping, but our experience was the other clientele was very considerate and could be considered an "mid-upper" echelon of people, based on the newer and high priced cars and clothing we saw other clients wearing. I think this is just because of the type of clients this facility has a proven record of attracting, over the years. The windows in the rooms slide open in the bathroom and by the table. The airport is nearby but doesn't have very many scheduled flights. The dual pane windows seem to block out the jet noise very well; we heard more noise from smaller aircraft than jets! Overall this Lodge is not necessarily stylish-- the bathroom sink is a very small cabinet surrounding the sink and they have a large-lengthy shelf above to hold your toiletries. Our room had a small separate dressing area with small boudoir stool, large mirror. Refrig and coffee maker. The tile in the bathroom floor is very cold so we asked for an extra bath mat and that worked like an "area rug" so we didn't have to step on that cold, cold floor! The soap offered is "body shampoo" in a wall-dispenser in the shower and by the sink but if you ask the maids for bar soap, they have it. The maids were friendly and very responsive to our requests. I think the maid/staff understands english better than they speak it. I used the spa, and exercise bike-- both nice amenities. They also have a sauna and elliptical exercise machine. The lodge does not offer a complimentary continental brkfst but they are walking distance to Denny's and Black Bear Diner (and several other restaurants-- those were the only two we visited. That Denny's has good service and is very VERY BIZ-ZY!!!) The phone in our room had a few quirks but we got it all figured out-- at first the front desk daytime staff didn't seem too interested and thought our complaints were trivial; however since my husband has an extensive electronic background, he explained what he thought was wrong and then they seemed to listen and had a desire to investigate the issue. We stayed at this place based on some relatives recommendation, who have been staying there for over 20 yrs while visiting grandkids. The new owners took over a few months/almost 2 yrs ago-- seem to be continuing a good level of maintenance and cleanliness; good staff. The night-time check in guy was especially helpful-- encouraging us to use our cell phone and call from the road (we arrived within 5 minutes of the lobby closing time). I would stay here again and recommend Lone Oak Lodge to all my friends.
