old but location ok
By Candy, 09/21/09
The price was ok, 100 dollars for queen bed and the location was pretty good. You can drive within 10 minutes to cannery row and the beach. The room was old and had an industrial soap dispencer inside the very small shower and by the sink. The add said there is a resturant inside the hotel, but when asked where the resturant was, the man behind the counter said he did not know what resturant I was talking about. To be fair there were several resturants on Fremont street. The bear cafe was excellent. Probably will not stay here again but the price was right.

A hidden treasure!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/04/09
My husband and I just stayed there with our teen-age daughters and we all loved it! We got a cottage so the girls could have their own room. It worked out so well...we all got our privacy and yet they were right in the next room so we all felt safer than if they were in a separate room. Also, we paid a little extra to use the full kitchen and it was so nice to have home-cooked meals while on vacation. The beds were so comfy, too! This will be our new go-to place to stay whenever we go to Monterey!

Never Again!
By Debbie, 02/20/08
We stayed the first night in a 2 double bed room and had no issues. The second night we were in a king room that was suppose to be non-smoking, but the smell of smoke was terrible. Somehow a brand new robe dissapeared the first day. The office guy who said his name was John was extremely rude over the phone and offered no help at all. Extremely dissapointing for our first trip to Monterey Bay.

What a Pleasant Surprise
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/19/08
We made reservations at this motel only because we were staying with our sons baseball team. Upon first glance, we thought "Oh no!". Our first impression was bad due to a smoke filled lobby, if you can get past that the rest is great. While the hotel is a little old, the insides are quite updated and both inside and out is very clean. Rooms vary in size and are larger than average hotel rooms. The beds are very comfortable with nice bedding and that comes from a self described hotel snob! The rooms smell good and come with refrigerators all are non-smoking. The location works well for just about anything in the area although not in the heart of shops and restaurants and waterfront, everything is nearby. The patio area included 2 outdoor heaters and 3 barbecues which they gladly let us know about so that we could feed the baseball team, very convenient. The price was very resonable and I would stay there again. A jewel of a motel in the row of cheaper motels of Monterey.

Will stay here again!
By Debbie, 11/10/07
This is a little nugget tucked away! I found it on the internet, read the reviews, and booked it. Still concerned until I saw it! Great people, super clean, feather beds, Kona coffee, great location! You certainly can't beat the price! Will stay here when I go to Monterey every time!

Absolutely Wonderful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/28/07
My boyfriend and I stayed there in one of their cottages. It was absolutely beautiful. Two rooms, tv, vcr and dvd player. Everything was clean and the beds were sooo comfortable and the pillows were too. It was like sleeping on a cloud. We are so going back even to just relax in the room all day. They had a mini fridge and coffee in the room too. It was like an apartment minus a kitchen. But the hotel has that. Top rate for a lodge. Not badly priced for a two bedroom motel room. Plus they have wireless internet.

VERY Pleasant Stay!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/17/07
The Loan Oak is perfectly located to all of the main sites of the Monterey Peninsula! For what you get in amenities, it's a wonderful value! The staff has always been most accommodating and friendly! If you need extra pillows or directions or a suggestion for a place to eat, they give you a number of options and recommendations to satisfy most any budget or mood! We have much enjoyed our stays there (5 so far) and definitely plan to make it many more! Thank you, Lone Oak!
