Lamp Liter Inn, Visalia

I loved the way they kept up the grounds. Not only that, but the room was awesome. It was quiet, peaceful, and the showers were huge. The pool was well kept, and the staff was nice.

My husband, infant daughter, and I stayed at the Lamp Liter Inn over the 4th of July weekend. It was a last minute, unplanned trip. The hotel was easy to find (spot it from the interstate), clean, and well landscaped. What I loved about the hotel was the pool (very large lap pool) and the resturant. The resturant is similar to a Denny's but it appears that the locals hang out there so it had a really neat feel to it. The waitressess and room service personnel were exceptionally friendly, but the lady at the front desk could use some customer service training. The place is very old, but it is kept clean.

PROS: The room was freshly painted with new carpet. For the price and location of where I was...it served its purpose. I only stayed one night. Staff was really nice though. I forgot to go to the front desk to checkout properly. I was able to call and check out of the room over the phone and they were okay with me mailing back their room keys. CONS: It is odd that this hotel used real keys as opposed to the electronic card key that most hotels currently use. Although the rooms are renovated...upon opening the door to the room the only thing I can smell was bleach. A heavy bleach scent reminds me of cheap motels. Also, there is no elevator--so those with lots of luggage will have to haul it up steps. This is also an outdoor hotel so rooms are accessed from the outside similar to an apartment complex. Room amenities were also average. Television set was of poor quality, the color and picture was awful. Also there is no wireless internet access. I stayed here on a business trip so the room was booked for me through my employer, I made sure to let them know that I would rather stay some where else next time.

Great Hotel with great grounds and peaceful surroundings. The service was great, very nice rooms, and great location. The staff was great and it had a down home feel to it.
