Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa is located directly next to the championship Del Monte Golf Course, and ten blocks from the Pacific Ocean and Monterey Bay. The resort boasts twenty-two prime coastal acres enjoying breathtaking views of Monterey, and panoramic views of the Del Monte Golf Course and Del Monte forest. Resort guests enjoy an upscale secluded and relaxing ambience, a full service Racquet Club with six tennis courts and two lighted tennis courts, two pools with whirlpools, and a poolside fitness center featuring free weights and cardiovascular equipment. Massage services can be arranged through the hotel concierge either in the fitness center or the privacy of your guestroom. NOT worth the money

This place is a glorified motel. We paid $309/night with no balcony and no view. They do not have air conditioning, and they offered to bring us a fan for our room but never did. It was our anniversary and they never delivered our bottle of champagne that we ordered, so when I called to remind them 2 hours later, we waited another hour and then left for dinner. When we came back, the bottle was in our room, but it was too late. When we drove up to the lobby on arrival, there was no valet to meet us, we parked our own car, which took 15 mintues of driving around waiting for someone else to leave for a spot to open up, and then we brought in our own luggage to our room. The location is NOT walking distance to anything, so you have to drive or cab it everywhere. What a disappointment the entire weekend.

Do NOT Recommend !

Our recent stay was very disappointing. Not what we would expect from a Hyatt. Our room was very poorly maintained. The tub did not drain, there was no fan in the tiny bathroom, no counter at all. There was no heating or cooling controls, no AC. The complimentary coffee was undrinkable and they were charging over 7 dollars to purchase a coffee. Not to mention the walls were so thin that we could plainly hear the guests in adjoining rooms. Monterey is filled with hotels charging half the price. It would not be hard to do better.

I was hoping for better.....

For the price, we found the room to be very basic.No frills.The room was clean.The location/golf course was nice but the room was just basic. It offered no extras to make me want to stay there again "for the high price". I could have stayed at Motel 6 and had the same things in the room. With a name like Hyatt, I was hoping for more.

Wow did this place stink. Literally. We checked into this "hyatt" looking forward to a nice resort experience. We got the complete opposite. This hotel is incredibly old, dirty, and outdated. The hallways are old and dark. The room is filthy, old, and very dark. There is little lighting in the place, perhaps because they don't want you to see the true extent of the dirt? The elevator is EXTREMELY small and old. It's like this hotel was built in the 1950's and has not been updated since. Hyatt is one of the best hotel chains around, I can't believe they put their name on this trashy dive. We saw weird people in the spa. Also, the windows won't open and there is no air conditioning whatsoever.

Fees for no service

Booked our room on Priceline & wonder if that had something to do with where we were located (back bldg, far from everything, no patio or balcony). Also fees for no service, restuarants under renovation & no where to use the $5.00 credut we were issued & ended up paying for at checkout. Semi-rude check-out clerk. Bed was great but that was about it. Won't stay here again. Expected more from Hyatt..........

Wedding Nightmare

We are locals and decided to stay the night for a wedding we attended at the hotel (I was in the wedding). My husband checked us in, but when we arrived at the room we quickly realized it was not what we had reserved...at all. I requested a non-smoking king bed near the bridal party. We got a non-smoking room with two double beds in the last room in the furthest building. My husband had to DRIVE me back and forth between the room and the wedding reception. Ridiculous! When I called to see if they would change the room, there was absolutely nothing they could do since the hotel was booked up...an amazing feat considering what a dump this hotel turned out to be. The room was dirty, the only ceiling fan didn't work and the window was broken and tapped up with PACKING TAPE! The only thing it had coming for it was the nice beds. Will not recommend this hotel to ANY of my out of town guests.

Very Romantic

Best Bed! Relaxing ambience, Reminded me of the former Hyatt Regency in Baguio Philippines. Not cheap but worth it. I imagined myself getting married there.I thought my mother would love the place, if she were still alive. No head aches encountered. Wi-Fi is not free, but that's the whole point, to get away from it all. Loved my stay, and as usual, Monterey, CA still does it for me.

i wouldn't stay there

there was dust all over the room. a cabinet was broken. there where fingerprints on the window. the remote to tv didn't work. no a/c. the shower was loud. toliet broke. the furniture had stains on the cushions. the screens had holes in them. front desk was rude. the rooms where dirty. the bathroom was full of mold.

Not worth the Money

My family and I visited Monterey and stayed at the Hyatt for One night. Thank God! The entrance looked very nice however our room was no where near the entrance. They put us all the way in the back.. In our room we found several Spiders, lots of Insects. The shower's drain didn't work all that good. No AIR CONDITIONing because (according to them) their climate doesn't required air conditioning but I can assure you it does get stuffy inside. At 8:00am in the morning, their cleanning ladies came and knock and then opened our door so they can clean our room. Thankfully we had used the chain on the door.. If not they would of walked in on us. That was ridicously rude. And Check Out isn't until 11:00. I would think they would come and clean after 11 not at 8 when we were still sleeping. This is the first and last time I'm staying at the Hyatt.

Dump

The room and building we were given was old and in need of updating. The furniture had stains on the cushions, the screens had holes in them, the website says air conditioning available - I was informed there was none on the property. I wrote a letter of complaint to the management and was never contacted. I wish I had read the reviews prior to booking. We will not return and advise to look elswhere.
