Can't Wait To Go Back
By ,
My experience at the hyatt was amazing. I satyed there for five nights. The food was wonderful, and the view was even better. The gardens were beautiful and the pool was nice too. I had a little bit of trouble with my room, but the staff took care of my problem in a timely fashion.

not the best experience
By ,
as my family arrived at the hotel, we entered into a room that had 50% of the floor wet. not just alittle moist but sock soaking wet. When we called down to the front desk they acted surprised and said they had no idea about it. We were given the chance to change rooms the next day. Parking was a nightmare. if you did not end your day early in the evening you had to park across the highway. the room was ok. the pool was pretty poor. would not recommend staying there again.

Marina Suites are nice! Stayed twice
By ,
We have enjoyed the marina suites in two separate stays. They are in a separate building from the main hotel and each has nice rooms, true suites (doors between bedroom and LR, and great view overlooking the marina. This location is excellent for visitors. Fishing and boating (including nice sailboats) are right outside the door. Sea World is virtually across the street and a 20 min. walk (although you'll probably save the walking for when you get there) and a short hop to everything else -- rental car is pretty much a must for getting around San Diego. Mission Beach incl. restaurants is 5-10 mins. down the road. Downtown, the S.D. Zoo, Balboar Park and museums, and Old Town are all basically a 15 min. trip. There is an OK cafe on site and a very fancy and somewhat pricey restaurant on site. Also a bar/lounge. Heated outdoor pool is goo, and the jacuzzi has glass walls to block the sea breeze, which is ever-present and nice except when you just step out of the pool!

Fantastic ocean view
By ,
We stayed at the ocean-view room which was little bit more expensive, and it was worth that rate. We could see all the pools, little ponds and gardens, and the fantastic mission bay over the balcony. The best thing was the dinner at the restaurant (Islandia seafood grill)!!

Excellent location and easy access to everything
By ,
Likes: This hotel is located to close to just about every main attraction in San Diego area (Del Mar, La Jolla, Old town, Mission Bay and Pacific Beach, Coronado, Downtown, ect). View from the tower room was awesome with smoothing harbor and ocean view. Room had a little balcony on which you can sit and relax. The staff seems to be courteous and responsive. Dislikes: The hotel is old and the decor is a bit outdated. The room service so overpriced. The shower faucet for the bathroom was too low for 6" person to take a shower. If you avoid overpaying for a room (less than $100 per night), then hotel seems to be of decent value. Don't expect super luxurious Haytt Hotel. You will not be dissapointed if you go with a little lower expectation for the hotel. I would recommend the place to anyone who is visiting San Diego.

Not worth the $$$$$
By ,
Overall, it was as if it used to be "Joe's Bar, Grill & Shanty" that they applied a coat of paint to, threw in a flat screen and some comfy beds. Definitely not what I have come to expect from a Hyatt. I previously stayed at the Bahia down the street and got what I paid for. This time, taking the family, I wanted, well, what a Hyatt is supposed to be. It fell far short. The rooms were unclean, had exposed pipes in the bathroom, the shelves in the bathroom were falling apart, there was a disgusting plant shelf (?) in the bedroom and bird poop all over the sidewalks and buildings. At check in the girl was arguing with me even after I handed her a printout of my reservation. Everything is an additional cost. $20/day to self park, $25/day to valet. $19 for a smores package (outdoor firepit) consisting of a few marshmallows and 2 sticks. $10/day for wi-fi. The water taxi to Sea World was nice, $5/person (of course an additional charge). There was one bright point, the Spa. Both the people that worked there and the amenities of the Spa were amazing. It truly was out of place in the otherwise run down Hyatt. It was such a disappointment.

Awesome Place To Visit :)
By ,
My family and I went there on a whim, actually...From the time we pulled up to the hotel we felt instantly refreshed. The hotel staff that checked us in were really nice and down to earth. The music that was playing outside of the hotel lobby was very soothing not to mention the tropical grounds. It was amazing!! We made it to our room and the view was of the Bay! Incredible is what I thought to myself. When the Sun went down we captured pictures that people are still asking about today. :) We had two kids at the time and they were in Heaven or at least somewhere close too it! LOL. The rooms are nice and the beds are to die for! If you have children the kids can play for hours in the pools and on the Water Slides that sit right in the middle of the Hotel Bay Side. My family and I didn't want to stay at the same hotel over and over again, but I have to say that we have been back to San Diego twice now, and have stayed at two other hotels that do not compare to the Hyatt~ I was very disappointed and will take my family to enjoy our vacations at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay of Course from this point on! Oh and at this time of the year they have what you call a Sea Taxi and if you like Sea World and you don't want the hassle and bassle of parking...try this little adventure! It's a boat that takes you for a nice little ride across the bay to a boat dock in the back of Sea World :) You print your tickets online and have them with you and you are in there. No parking hassles, no lines of people, a friendly ticket handler to let you in. IT'S GREAT ;) The last sea taxi leaves somewhere along the lines of Shamu's last show, and trust me when the kids are restless and your tired this nice boat ride will top of your evening...Had a great time and would highly recommend this Hotel!!!

This is the Chuck E Cheese of hotels
By ,
My husband and I made the mistake of staying at this hotel last week. The location is good and the rooms are ok. The problem was trying to enjoy the so called amenities. My husband and I tried to go into the jacuzzi the first day we were there. It was always at only 90 degrees which was too cool. It was over run with people and most of them were young kids. They were playing in the jacuzzi with their water guns, etc. The occupancy sign for the jacuzzi said 16 but it had 25 people in it. We tried to go in anyway but gave up after repeatedly being kicked by kids and having jacuzzi water splashed into our drinks. We decided to try again the next night. We went at 1030pm thinking surely there would not be a bunch of little kids in the jacuzzi at that hour (jacuzzi is open until 11pm). Boy were we wrong. This time I counted 30 people in the jacuzzi and it was over run with kids and their toys again. This one mom got enraged with me after I asked her son to move off the stairs temporarily so I could get into the jacuzzi. She was obviously drunk and started screaming and yelling profanities at me. I should mention that hotel security was a few feet away, saw this whole thing go down and did nothing. When we went back up to our room we saw a couple at the front desk complaining about the jacuzzi situation. The front desk person told her that this was a "family hotel" and that there was nothing they could do. I also complained and said, "Why aren't you enforcing your own policies such as the maximum occupancy in the jacuzzi?" They told me there was nothing they could do and offered to comp us breakfast. They made it clear that they are choosing to cater to one group over another. If you are a bad parent with obnoxious kids and you want them to run amok all over a resort without any consequences, then this is the place for you. If you want to relax and enjoy yourself this is NOT the hotel for you. There were other small things too such as the parking. We had to pay $20 extra per day to park in their lot but the spaces were very narrow so people just parked over the lines and took up more than one space. This made parking difficult to find. At over $200 a night, everyone should be able to enjoy the jacuzzi and pool. I don't mind kids in the pool but they shouldn't be in the jacuzzi, shouldn't be treating it like a small water park, and shouldn't be in it at 11pm. I grew up in SD and still have family there so I visit several times a year. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again.

Red Marlin
By ,
We went to your Red Marlin restaurant for lunch after looking at boats in the harbor. The view was great and our service was horrible. Waited over five minutes for a drink and had to ask other staff for assistance. I asked several times for some bread or a refill and most of the times other staff members were attempting to respond. There was a large group there for lunch and no attention was paid to the patrons seated in my area I watched a guest get very upset over receiving similar service. She was staying at the hotel with her grand children. I glanced at her table and she and another adult had ordered fish entrees. I was embarrassed I took my colleague there for lunch.
