Great for large families
By sac natives, 09/23/09
Reserved two rooms here for my wife and me and my son and his family of five....abundant space for everyone. Rooms were clean and comfortable, including the beds. Nice outdoor pool.....free continental breakfast at the restaurant in front.......location worked out well for Disneyland parks. Only negatives would be noisy air conditioning, which can be turned off, and a musty smell in the corridor, which was not noticeable in the rooms. A big thumbs up to the staff of the hotel and restaurant....everyone was extremely helpful and couldn't have been more cordial.

Comfortable home away from home!
By egelstein, 07/20/08
We traveled to Anaheim from Los Angeles to watch the Saturday and Sunday games at Angel Stadium and wanted to stay at a reasonably priced hotel. I was impressed with Hotel Pepper Tree's website and amenities for the price. This is the first hotel I've ever stayed at where the inside is more appealing than the outside! We stayed two nights in an Executive King room, which had a large patio and small running fountain. The curtains blocked out virtually all the light and the sound from the fountain, so we were able to sleep peacefully on the extremely comfortable bed. The bed was very soft and the pillows were some of the best we've slept on; we wished we could take one with us! (But we didn't, of course.) The sheets and blankets were nothing special. It was very convenient having the kitchen suite available, and I was pleased that there was a large fridge instead of a small cube fridge. The stove/oven worked well; the microwave was sub-par. The room was spacious with charming old world style furniture; very kitchy. The furniture wasn't extremely high quality, but it was functional and in keeping with the unique style of the hotel. Part of the room was carpeted and the rest had gorgeous tile. The bathroom was small and quaint and very clean. The shower was temperamental but that's a small price to pay for a quality hotel, if you ask me. There was a large closet and separate dressing area off the bathroom that was separated from the rest of the room, which was a nice touch. We settled right in and immediately felt like we were on vacation. The housekeeping was adequate. Our trash cans were emptied but the kitchen trash didn't have a fresh liner and was left sitting in the middle of the room. The dishes weren't washed, which may be the policy, but I was expecting them to be washed. The kitchen counter had also not been cleaned. The ashtray on the patio was not emptied and the furniture was not straightened. They advertise a program to cut down on towel washing by reusing them, and the sign indicated that if we wanted to reuse our towels, we could just hang them. We did, and the towels were replaced anyway. (I'm not going to complain about clean towels, but it sort of defeats the purpose of the program!) The bathroom was cleaned well, our personal belongings were right where we left them, and the bed was made well, so we were pleased with that. The front desk area is charming, and the fountains immediately outside of the main entrance are home to 20 or so large goldfish. We are fishkeepers ourselves and were impressed with how well cared for the fish seemed to be. The pool area is more spacious than the online pictures make it seem, and while the hours are 9-9, we were told that you could use the area anytime as long as there wasn't substantial noise. There was a large barbecue built into the wall in the pool area; we were sorry we didn't have a chance to use it! The restaurant in the hotel parking lot is charming and serves reasonable and delicious drinks and hors deourves. I recommend the deluxe nachos and blended strawberry margaritas. The staff is very accommodating. The rates we paid were not a steal by any means, but for the quality experience we had, it was worth it. The front desk granted our request for a late check out (noon instead of 10:00am), which we very much appreciated. We'll certainly stay here again and refer it to friends and family. It's a great place to stay with kids, I'd imagine, what with the accessible pool and spacious room options. We saw many happy families here during our short stay. Location was also a benefit; it's easy to find and easy to navigate Anaheim from this location. It took us less than ten minutes to get to and from Angel Stadium, and there are a number of stores and restaurants within two/three miles. Thank you, Hotel Pepper Tree, for a wonderful stay! 4.5 stars

Pros and Cons
By Kenneth, 06/02/08
Pros- the kitchen suites are as advertised. A normal kitchen which allows you to avoid eating out for every meal. Nearby grocery store, Target, or Wal-mart can let you stock up your hotel room with food and beverages. Close to Disney took us about 5-7 minutes to get there each day. About a 35-40 minute drive to the nearest beach. Cons- No cell phone service in our room (kitchen suite w/ private patio). Paid for wireless internet but it was very sketchy. My biggest complaint was we stayed for 6 nights and they only cleaned our room every other day. There were a couple of days we slept in but we did not put out a do not disturb sign and no one knocked. One day we left by 8 AM and came back that night to find our room just like we left it.

Beauty is only skin deep...
By Nikki, 02/14/08
I searched on Yahoo Travel for a hotel that was near Disneyland for me, my husband and our 18 month old son. Hotel Pepper Tree looked nice in the pictures, was reasonably priced, and had a full kitchen, so we gave it a shot. When we arrived it looked just like the pics online. The staff was very nice and checked us in to our King Studio room. At first glance, the hotel seemed really nice. Our bed was comfortable and the room was large. The decor was cute although at little mixed up from Spanish, Native American, Sports, and Autralian... I liked the full kitchen. I was able to keep and prepare meals for our son that way. Then, things started downhill. I noticed there was no alarm clock and the wall clock in the room didn't work. The drain wouldn't close in the tub for our son's bath. When we went to bed, we had no way to turn the light off on the patio. so it was too bright in our room. The fountain on the patio was nice, but really loud at night. We denied housekeeping the first day of our stay because we had gotten in late and it wasn't necessary, but then we ended up not getting it at all during our 3 night stay! Our trash was overflowing by the time we left and I had to pick towels up from the front desk. Our heater wouldn't turn off at one point. There are no ice machines on premises and the continental breakfast in the restaurant across the parking lot was not that great. Hotel Pepper Tree is not the worst hotel I've ever stayed at, but I won't be making another reservation there anytime soon. :(

Absolutely the BEST hotel I've stayed in!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/28/07
I currently live in Las Vegas, NV but I was born & raised in Anaheim, CA. I had to go back to my hometown for a week & needed a place to stay with my husband and two year old son. I researched online & found Hotel Pepper Tree. I wasn't really expecting much as I did find it onlilne & things always appear better online than in person. We arrived & the place is beautiful! They have little fountains all over the grounds, & most even have fish in them! It was beautiful. You wouldn't expect such a lovely hotel in that area. Not that it's a bad area, but you wouldn't expect such a nice hotel to be there. When we arrived, we found that guest parking is not in the front - guests have a more secure & seperate parking area. That made me feel better already! We got to the room, which we just got a regular King bed suite, & it was big, beautiful, & was perfect for what we needed. It had a hall with a vanity area, a LARGE closet, & a bathroom at the end of the hall. The shower in the bathroom had a rain-head & let out a lot more water than an average hotel's regular shower head. In the closet was an iron & ironing board, along with a tall dresser. The room was large with an attached dining/living area. There was a small loveseat, coffee table, & good size TV. There was also a large desk in the room. There was a nice size FULL kitchen. And I mean FULL! It had a good size refrigerator & freezer. It also had an oven, stove, pots & pans, silverware, coffee maker, LARGE & deep sink...the works. I'm sure it had more, but I just can't remember all it had. There was a beautiful patio off of the room area. It was long & narrow with beautiful plants & flowers. There was also a small fountain & chairs on the patio. Leading to the patio was a sliding glass door & you could open the blackout drapes to let in good lighting & to view the beauty of the patio. Housekeeping came by everyday, cleaned the room, & changed the bedding. The front desk was open 24 hours a day & you can call them for anything that you might need. If you need an extra hour or two to check out, they are very courteous & nice, as long as you call about a day ahead of time. The room was absolutely perfect for our family. The kitchen worked out great for me because having a two year old, I could store his milk or juice & prepare his meals. Also, local calls (714 area code) are free, which helped as my family was local. The whole hotel & the room had an old classic Spanish feel. It was very beautiful and very original. The tables and desks were all made of real wood, & almost looked hand carved. The loveseat was made from real wood & leather. It looked quite original. The hallway, entry way, kitchen, & patio all had large tile. The staff was very nice & would go out of their way to make sure you are happy with your stay. The location is great & near everything. It is near Knott's Berry Farm & also Disneyland. It is also near the famous Dad Miller Golf Course. There was a restarurant on site. The restaurant looked to serve authentic food & it also was very beautiful on the outside. Didn't have time to go there. The hotel was also wonderful because it was a non-smoking hotel. There is so much more to say about this hotel. I was pleasantly surprised at the condition, as it wasn't a "roach motel" like others in the area. It was genuinely a wonderful place to stay. I felt safe & secure. It was not noisy & I didn't have any complaints. It would be a great place for families to stay while on vacation, or even couples to spice up their love life. It did give off a romantic & seductive feel. Very lovely place & I would definitely stay there again the next time I visit my hometown. I would recommend this hotel to anyone & everyone. AAA+++!!! :) ~Chelsea G.

Granada
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/23/04
Not a bad place at all. I lived at the Granada for 11 months while waiting for an apt. The staff is courteous and kind. The rooms are well kept and clean, Third floor is especially nice. I would recommend this place.
