Great for the Price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/28/09
We stayed there for 4 nights to attend a H.S. reunion. Having grown up in the south bay area, we were familiar with it and had no concerns about "bad area" as some other reviewer's commented. We were completely satisfied with everything. Rooms, although not 4 star, were clean and comfortable. The front desk staff was efficient and very friendly. The pool was clean. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

pleasent and convenient
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/21/09
Stayed at the Goodnite in July 4&5. Found it searching for a place near Seaworld and the Zoo. ALL the places in San Deigo where way too expensive150.00---250.00 a night. The Goodnite Inn was 75.00 a night. Read a lot of reviews and was expecting the worst. Was pleasenly surprised when we were allowed to check in around noon, 3 hour early, after driving 18 hours from Colorado Springs. Asked for a smoking room and was given one right away. Asked for a refrigerator and they had one brought in a couple hours later. Was expecting a bad room but was surprised to find it clean, plumming all worked, beds were comfortable. Room was a nice size. The Hotel was located close to the Ocean, very close to MANY eating places. Even went to the supermarket just down the street. Did a LOT of driving trying to see everything, and had no trouble getting back to the Hotel, right off I-5. Went swimming at the pool. Found it to be clean as well. Didn't see a lot of the other visitors, nor did we hear them at night which was more important. Did get the morning coffee, and danishes each morning from the lobby. Considering all the e-mails about how bad it would be I'm glad to say I was very satisfied with the Hotel, the staff, location, price, and had a lovely stay before driving to Anahiem to begin our 3 day Disneyland venture. Bought the CityPass so our family of 4, wife and I, 2 boys 8 & 10 started our vacation going to the Seaworld then the Zoo. Being what the traffic is, and it is something out of the ordinary. We decided to stay near San Deigo rather then drive back and forth. We had a great time in San Deigo and enjoyed our stay at the Good Nite Inn Chula Vista. Jesseesdad

Bad Customer Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/11/09
My fiance and I took a trip to San Diego for our two year anniversary, and just let me say that the Good Nite Inn made the trip just a horrible experience overall. The Room was not clean or organized when we arrived. The sheet on the bed was only tucked under 1 side (Who makes the bed by putting the sheet on one corner, and throws the blanket over it??!!) Shower had black, tar like marks in the tub. And the towels, which turned into a running joke . . We only recieved 1 towel, for a room with a king size bed, and the towel couldn't even go around my torso!!! (and I weigh only 150 lbs) Now comes the worse part of the trip. When we arrived, there was something wrong. When I told the check-in my last name, she had to enter in SO much information it was amazing. She then went back into the 'back office' part of the building and spoke to somebody (I couldn't see at the time). She came back and said, "Okay, I have your room ready, I just need your license and a credit card" The only problem with that request was that I had already paid for the room with my credit card a month prior. I then stated that I wouldn't be handing over my card, just because I had already paid. She then typed who knows what into the computer for the next two minutes, and then proceeded to walk into the back room again. Another woman then walks out, to blatantly tell me that, "No, you have not paid. You are not able to pay online through Expedia" I then told her that I didn't pay on Expedia, I paid on their Hotel's website, and had seen my money come out of my account a month prior. An attitude all of a sudden engulfed this lady. She chose to use this tone, of which nobody should choose to talk to their customer with; such as if I am the homeless person asking to use the phone or restroom, and I get the tone of 'No, we don't have anything for you here.' But with that tone, she decided to let me know that if I chose not to hand her another card, I would have to go find another place to lodge for the night. I was completely flabbergasted. I had even been in contact with this hotel just to make sure that everything was just fine with our reservations and everything. If I had not have just driven three hours, I might have went somewhere else. There is much more to this story, more contact with the staff of which I didn't like. . But you as a potential customer should understand. . . Do Not Choose this Hotel! Stay Away.

We wil be back
By masstiff, 07/10/09
Took my family to San Diego for vacation and stayed here for 3 nights. We enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and the place was quiet.location is a little far from Sea world but is right off Int.5 so its not bad at all. The price was very reasonable. I definitely will stay here again.

Will not return to this place.
By TammyK, 08/15/08
Room smells moldy and most towels are hundred years old. If you are allergic to mold, don't ever stay here. On top of that, they charge $5/day for internet.

Okay for the money
By Joshua, 07/29/08
Room was good - TV and bed were good Pool hours were ridiculous. You have to sacrifice precious vacation time in san diego or wherever else to go to the pool before it closes at 10. It also opens at 10 so you can't go out for a morning swim before you check out at 11. Continental breakfast was bad. Danishes, Muffins, and Orange Juice. That's all. Everything else was good, okay for the money

Great Value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/18/07
I enjoyed our stay in June of 2007. The room was very clean and the staff was helpful. This hotel is not by the beach, which I was led to believe. But it is conveniently located by the interstate, grocery store, visitor information center, trolley and restaurants. The walls are thin so it can be noisy. I highly recomend this place for the money. I would stay here again.

Piss Poor Reception and Wireless Internet
By Geaux Tigers, 06/13/07
This place is a joke and is under "renovation." Apparently the renovation is such a distraction that the front desk doesn't do anything at all. Have fun.

Trip to Mexico and Universal Studios
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/02/07
We Arrived and had no problems checking in. The location is awesome. Hard to find at first as it sits behind a eatery and the name is different, maybe I'm just blonde. Once found very convenient to food and stores and the freeway. Did not have enough towels and washclothes in the room however the laundryroom people hooked us up immediately. Also have a coin operated laundryroom on site which was great for us. We used it. Coffe was ready and waiting in the mornings. The desk personnel were friendly and helpful. Short distanct from San Diego airport and Mexico border. If you are not looking for 5 stars but comfort on a budget with a friendly helpful attitude, I recommend Good Night Chula Vista

save money, stay on the trolley line
By brian, 01/24/07
The best part of this place is the location. It is a short walk across the hwy bridge to the trolley stop. We did not even rent a car, just purchased a 4day pass for $15. Airport, SeaWorld, Zoo, downtown, Tijuana--the trolley (and maybe a quick bus transfer) gets you there. There are many restaurants within a block to choose from, both fastfood and sit-down, though most nights we took the trolley down to the Gaslamp district (public transit runs til midnight). The hotel was being renovated, but it wasn't a big deal, although their restaurant was closed. We were able to get non-smoking, and the room had been recently remodeled and was fine, but not fancy. The bedspread was a little dirty and the towels were small and thin. The cleaning staff did a good job. We were on the I5 side, which was noisier. I was a little worried by the "Guests may stay no longer than 28 days" sign at the check-in desk, but we never even saw any other guests, only heard them once or twice in the parking lot. There were not a lot of TV channels, maybe 10-15, but that wasn't a big deal, although I did miss the weather channel. We did not check out the pool, but it looked clean. All in all, it was a great value. I was worried because it was a lot cheaper than other deals on the travel sites, but it was fine and I would go back. It's a no-frills place, but we were just there to sleep, and as I said, it was super convenient.
