Best value in LA
When I go to Santa Monica I stay here. When I go to Hollywood I stay here. And if for some reason I actually want to be in the area where Royal Century is located at I definitely stay there. It is all because of the hotel's value.
The Royal Century is located by nothing special except LAX. It is just one of many $45-$55 a night rooms in the motel corridor on Century. The reason you stay here though is because you get so much for your $50. If you are in LA looking for the cheapest this is the part of town you must go to, but unlike all the other $50 a night rooms on the Century stretch the Royal Century is not a rundown motel. Some may call it a rundown hotel but I find the place to be clean, comfortable, quiet, friendly, safe, and more. The place is run by some of the most friiendly Chinese people you'll meet. They will bend over backwards to try to get things right for you. The rooms are big with balconies, cable TV, and big bathrooms with great water pressure. The place is extremely secure with only one way to get in or out, the front desk which is always staffed. The place even has an elevator too (how many $50/night places have that?). And although it is away from everything there are several bus lines and the metro green line nearby so you can get anywhere in the city in under 45 min (the LAX bus terminal with buses going from Long Beach to Hollywood to Santa Monica is a 5 minute bus ride away). The only real downside I'd give this place is some of the rooms do not maintain consistency. Some rooms are more rundown then others so you may have to ask to see another room if you aren't feeling it. Also, rooms on the backside of the hotel overlook a bunch of noisy rude residential homeowners with loud barking dogs, ice cream men who go by every hour with large noisy horns, and the occassional loud street conversations so you might want to avoid the back out of noise concerns if that stuff bothers you. Overall even though this is no Four Season I give this place the best bang for your buck in LA.
