We not come back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/7/10
The price was reasonable. This hotel is awful. There was a rat in the room. The carpet was dirty and the room smelled. The wallpaper was peeling off the wall. There were some pants in a drawer. The windows were dirty. They ran out of food. I will never stay here again.

Old But Clean
By Rose, 2/22/09
The room needs to be remodeled but it is clean. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. The only problem I had was my 10 year old daughter left her ipod on the bedside table in the morning and was gone when we came back in the afternoon.

It is better if you can avoided
By hf, 12/14/07
Arrived at night for business in the following day. The room was cold since air conditioning was completely off. It took a couple of hours to warm the room. I boosted the heat since I couldn’t sleep while the noisy fan is on. No chance to sit on a chair and watch TV, only to lay in bed. The round table takes more space and offers less use. Room space and furniture is not coordinated. Bed is clean and comfortable. I couldn’t figure out how to set the alarm clock in the bedside Sony dream machine! Second floor corridors and doors are really depressing. There are dark open rooms could be safety hazard. No ice machines in the location specified in layout. Breakfast is not included, coffee in the lobby and internet for pay. The hotel location is convenient. Yet I find it better to stay in a nicer remote place and drive to downtown.

scary dump
By sebastes, 8/29/07
This hotel is awful. The deadbolt wasn't functional (had to sleep with the chairs against the door). The wallpaper was peeling off the wall. There was mold in the shower. I will never stay here again. It was gross.

I would love to go back to this hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/22/07
This hotel has a friendly, relaxed feel to it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool area is a lovely place to lie in the sun and chill out. Starbucks and several good bars and places to eat within walking distance although the food at the hotel is very nice and inexpensive. I really enjoyed my stay here and would definitely go back to this hotel if I visited Sacramento again.

I checked out (i.e. ran like #%**) at 9 p.m.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/24/06
Located in a marginal area near downtown, the exterior and the lobby of this hotel are nice. However, once I exited the elevator to my room the reality is revealed. There were holes in the hallway ceiling from leaks and the place smelled as old as it looked (they tried to cover the smell with deodorizors). My business trip was in November and my room was VERY cold because the entire wall was a sliding glass door to the courtyard. I turned on the very loud, single speed (Hi speed) heater and after 2 hours I was still freezing! The toilet ran and there was no bathtub, just a shower. I couldn't believe I was paying over $100 per night for this dive! At 9 p.m. on my first night there I was fed up. I checked out (which the front desk did with courtesy and did not charge me) and then drove 8 miles to a Hampton Inn in Rancho Cordova to get a decent night's sleep. Although this is a chain and you'd expect better, I'd definitely avoid this Clarion!

We always go back because we love it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/10/06
We love the location and the staff. It always feels like we are coming to a personable place that is safe and comfortable. The location to the downtown area is perfect and walkable. There is plenty of parking across the street. The entire hotel is non-smoking so the air is always fresh. We have always stayed in rooms with balconies and, on a nice day, open the sliding glass doors for fresh air from the enclosed courtyard. I spoke with the staff and a lot of renovation has taken place - perhaps after some of the negative reviews listed above? The AAA rate is quite competitive, especially for the location. I highly recommend this hotel for all of the amenities, including room service that we have found always fresh, prompt and well-priced.

Great Location
By Keith, 4/12/06
The room was comfortable but I did not get the room I reserved. It may have been because of the large number of conventions in town. The food in the restaurant was very good but on one room service order I did not get what I ordered. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. Best of all was the location, it was within easy walking distance to all of downtown. This is not a fun town to drive in as all the streets are oneway, hence it is much easier to walk.

awful
By Brent, 3/1/06
This hotel is old, dirty and our room smelled like horse piss! It is pet friendly and I think Roy Rogers stayed in this room with Trigger. Trigger had an accident. The whole place is run down and not worth any price.

How It Used To Be
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/17/06
The best thing about the Clarion Hotel is its restaurant. The architectural lay-out, the food itself, and the table service are all top notch. I enjoy chatting with the waiters and I'm always pleased with how responsive they are to any requests. There's an old-fashioned spaciousness and quiet about this place that we love to experience. For us the location is ideal since several surgeries have required we be close to Sutter Hospital.
