Oversold Rooms, Bad Front Desk & Management
By ,
After traveled for 20 hours on a plane, my relatives found out that the hotel had sold their room to somebody else even though they prepaid for 11 nights. They were sent to another hotel and had to unpack and pack then returned the next day. Hotel provided taxi vouchers which no taxi drivers were willing to accept. Hyatt Regency front desk had to pay cash to get the driver to take us instead of waiting any longer, The bell captain at the other hotel had to spend10 minutes to convince another cab to take me back to Hyatt Regency. Why sign up with a taxi company that will not accept them? Don't tell me that we are the first guests who had these experience. It only meant that your hotel is not up to the standard to offer excellent service to your guest. When we checked in, there were other guests who got the same problem. So that means you must have oversold a lot! As a matter of fact, the other guest said that he would never returned. Even the cab driver learned of our story said that your hotel is too greedy by overselling your rooms. Jose Fuentes, the assistant Front Office Manager, was the one who helped to check in my relatives. Even though he said that he was sorry, you could tell from his facial expression that he did not mean it nor care a bit about the inconvenience brought to my relatives. I drove 3 hours to the airport , then the hotel and had not had dinner at 8pm. I could not believe such a "high class????" hotel would give such a first hand impression to visitors who are a good source of income to the US economy. Even though they did not charge for the night, but that was not what my relatives wanted. They wanted a room where they could check in right away and laid on the beds to relax. Since they prepaid the travel agency overseas, they had to go through the trouble to get a refund afterwards. So I was very upset and asked for some dinner vouchers to compensate for the additional inconvenience. Jose said hastily," You want dinner, let's go to the restaurant now!" He acted as if we were trying to take advantage of the hotel. Come on. Visitors who spent thousands of dollars really want to benefit a meal. I also cannot believe that the hotel does not have coffee pot in the room and the guest has to request it. We hated that we had to stay dressed up and wait for the delivery. For a lot of people like my husband and myself, the first thing we want when out of bed is to have a cup of coffee. This is especially important to travelers who have jet lag. Just want to advise other guests not to be fooled by this hotel by its star rating. It definitely does not deserve it. I give 2 stars for the location close to tourist attraction and the look of the lobby.

Not worth it
By ,
Nice hotel but they will charge you way too much for the littlest things. You don't get anything for free.I think the restaurants should consider vegetarians needs as well as the hotel chef. Was at a gala with a 5 course dinner, had to go to dinner afterwards.Really $200.00 and left hungry. No vegetarian options.Be sure to shop outside the hotel or you will pay out the butt for food.

Lose items sent to hotel
By ,
Mailed a packageto someone staying at Hyatt, tracking showed that it arrived, but front desk could not locate it anywhere. Was informed that I should send it ups or fed ex if I wanted to be able to locate it. Everytime I called about the package I was put on hold. Finally after 3 attempts of being on hold up to 30 min. someone answered. Still did not get any satisfaction. BAD SERVICE!

BEWARE: THEY WILL ROB YOU BLIND
By ,
We had an event here for a few hundred people. We paid for everything up front and was asked at the last minute for an additional deposit in the thousands of dollars. They ignored our pleas to get confirmation numbers for hotel guests. They refused to allow us to choose food items from their menus and said take this menu we made for you or forget it. They ran out of food for over half our guests and promised more food would be forthcoming but it never materialized. They refused to return our deposit, or refund the monies we prepaid for a luncheon that didn't happen. These folks are crooks. Will rob you blind. And laugh at you while you try to reason with them. The set up you ask for will be ignored. If you tell them they double charged your guest for a prepaid hotel room they will call you a liar.

Use Priceline for this hotel
By ,
Great hotel but for $400 night? I think not, use priceline and have gotten it almost every time for $100 night. At that price it is a steal.

Aggravating Stay
By ,
My last stay at the Century Plaza was like a nightmare. The hotel is far from the city and near no places of interest to visit. First, they never had our reservation although we had a confirmation number. We were forced to wait for over 4 hours until they had a room for us. The room was nice but had few amenities and needed refurbishing. The last straw was when I slipped and was badly hurt in the main lobby. It seems that the lobby is always very slippery. We were later told that others have slipped. I was badly hurt and my $1000 camcorder was completely ruined. The manager said I would get re-imbursement but never did. I will never stay there again. You must take expensive taxis to points of interest.

Worth The Money
By ,
Stayed there for 3 nights. Absolutely beautiful hotel. Staff very friendly. Room very clean and maid service excellent. Bed was extremely comfortable.. Just two suggestions. First one......... Starbucks hours are limited. Opens at 6:30 a.m., which for those of us on EST is very inconvenient. I really needed that coffee earlier. 6:30 a.m. PST is equal to 9:30 a.m. EST. Many people I met in the early hours looking for coffee felt the same way. May want to consider keeping open 24 hours. Secondly, being that the hotel is in a very commercial area, it would be helpful to have the "gift shop" open longer hours, not for souvenier shopping, but for purchasing basic items such as soaps, toothpaste, asprin, soda, snacks, personal items, etc. The only shopping in the area is a mall across from the hotel, but that closes at 7:00 p.m. May want to consider having gift shop open 24 hours for those in need of the above. May also consider adding items to the gift shop such as food items, cigarrettes, etc. Overall, this hotel is definately worth the price.
