Holiday Inn Express Rancho Bernardo, San Diego

This hotel is a big JOKE! bkurr you must work at the hotel to say that. I think what people with the negative reviews are actually correct.The hotel needs upgrades and better service.

We were a little hesitant about going here after reading some of the earlier reviews. However, our experience there was positive. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. Its close to a large shopping plaza where there are restaurants and a large grocery store. Its also only about 15 minutes from the Wild Animal park. The mini-fridge and microwave in the room allowed us to buy some groceries while we were there and save money.

After my wife and I won our bid on priceline we saw the negative reviews and were really worried. What we got was a clean room with what looked like brand new carpet and friendly prompt service. My only negative was that I was expecting a hotel in Mira Mesa where we were visiting our family, and had a 10 minute longer drive.

This was the biggest nightmare of my life. I will not return or reccommend this hotel to anyone. First of all they told us we would get a 2 bedroom suite with a jacuzzi in the room a "presidential suite". My husband and four children were very excited of coarse. We get there and they say we booked for 2 people and the room only has one bed. Very upset, they now tell us the next day they will have a town home available with no jacuzzi to accomidate 6 of us so for one night we would have to use 2 rooms at the same rate but with four beds. We figured for one night we can deal with this. The rooms were awful. Dusty like they haven't been used in months and the toilets wouldn't flush, no free internet like they lead you to belive, a cold jacuzzi outside and the rudest customer service I have ever seen and I work in the business. So we delt with it and the next day we go to get our "town home" a one bedroom with a pull out and baby cocroaches crawling everywhere. I was so devistated how they think this could accomidate a family this size? and then the roaches? I talked to the night manager and he just said you can call someone in the morning about it. So we left to another hotel which was fabulous called the Staybridge Holiday Inn on Mira Mesa and we still have to dispute the charges on the other one and I will let you know.

New review - Memorial Day Weekend 2008. Don't believe the pictures. We stayed in the Townhouse rooms and they were disgusting. Sticky carpeting. Circa Brady Bunch kitchnette and fixtures. In the hallway the floor, walls and ceilings were crooked and caving in. The review stands true for rooms 250, 252 and 254 as all horrified tenants compared notes. We called for linens for the "sofa bed" and they delivered yellow stained sheets. The water in the jacuzzi was soupy and green. Mildew was growing on both bathroom ceilings.I can't believe the Holiday Inn allows their name to be associated with this establishment. The breakfast was OK. Pretty standard for any motel/hotel. Save your money and stay at a Motel 6 as it would be the same experience and less shock to your budget. Anyone who rated this hotel more then 1 star works for the hotel and it tracking to stack the ratings.

I like that it was away from downtown, staff where very nice and it was priced just right. Breakfest was great and a wide screen TV just made it perfect for me! Ed

This Holiday Inn is supposed to be a 3-star hotel, but definitely it is over-rated. We had reservations for 3 nights but moved out to another hotel after the first night. The hotel is very old; carperts were very dirty and damp, the tub/shower area also looked old with grout dark. We were supposed to get a room with two queen beds but ended up getting one with two full-size. The chair (at the work desk) was broken. One good thing was that you would get free wireless internet in the room. Breakfast area was a zoo in the morning. It took the waitress 20 minutes to get napkins to the breakfast area. The eggs were aweful and the rest of the items were normal (nothing impressive). The rooms on one side of the hotel face a gas station that it did not seem very safe (specially if staying on first floor). We will never stay at this hotel again!

Hands down the best hotel experience in my life - I highly recommend it. Very clean rooms, an assortment of bed pillows from which to choose, free internet access, delicious daily breakfasts (not Continental, but full-on breakfast), helpful and friendly staff, and very reasonable rates. In short, there was nothing I didn't like and will definitely stay there again. This hotel is San Diego's secret.

I have stayed at this hotel twice now. I was so impressed that I came back a 2nd time even though I had to drive 25 minutes to get to the event I was attending to. I have recommended it to family & friends and have had friends stay there also, and they were also impressed. The service is great! I arrived at 0800 the first time and was able to check in, the 2nd time I arrived at approximately 1000 and was told my room was not available, but could check back in a couple of hours, which I did....and sure enough, I was able to check in around noon. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and ammenities are also great. Heated pool was great, spa was great, fitness room was a little small, but was acceptable for this hotel. One of my lamps didn't work, I called the front desk, and they immediately had it replaced within 10 minutes! They offer free wireless/internet service, which you usually have to pay extra at other hotels. I am really extremely satisfied with this hotel and am going to stay again in September. My event in September is 30 minutes away, but very much worth it. They also offer a expanded continental breakfast which is really great! This is definitely a great hotel to stay at and definitely worth the money!

We went to San Diego on a last-minute weekend trip. Unfortunately, either the hotels in the area were booked solid or outrageously expensive. So we "settled" for the Holiday Inn at Rancho Bernardo. This Holiday Inn turned out to be better than most of the hotels we have ever stayed at (and we've stayed at a lot of them). Here's why: We booked on the web-site and got a "deal" for less than $100.00 a night, check-in was a breeze. We had a non-smoking room where we never smelled a HINT of cigarette smoke. The room was very clean,nicely decorated, well-furbished and comfortable. The pool and sauna were very clean, pool was heated. Last, but definitely not least we came into the lobby the next morning fully expecting a cursory (typical at other hotels) continental breakfast. You know, watery coffee and some rolls...But we were amazed to find a full spread waiting for us in the restaurant including ham, fruit, cereals- both hot and cold, waffles, hard-boiled eggs, pastries,etc. Service was wonderful and it was all free! I would highly recommend this Holiday Inn to anyone. The few extra minutes of commute time are well worth it.
