By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/11/08
i like the hot waffles in the morning. they even have hard boiled eggs to those who are on the go. also their rooms are clean despite of the negative facts i saw on some reviews, this hotel is the cleaniest. i would highly recommend this hotel to anyone no matter if you're here for business or for leisure.

Value for money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/07
Pros ---- - Great value for the price!! - Clean bed. Came with a microwave and refrigerator that were very useful - Next to I5; so you can get to the Zoo/Sea World in about 15 mins - Grocery store on next block (very useful if you have small kids) - Restaurant and gas station right across the street - Stayed for 5 days during Sep end and got a great discount (with AAA membership) Cons ---- - Breakfast is not appealing; breakfast room is small and not very inviting

Know what you're in for!
By Baboo, 11/10/07
I was disappointed that Best Western would lend its name to this motel. My daughter and I reserved rooms for a three-night stay this past week. Upon arrival and turning on the first light in my room, a roach scooted across the bedside table. My daughter was in the room next door, and killed several of the little rascals during the first night. The next day, we reported the problem to the desk and they assured us they would spray the rooms with insecticide. The second night my daughter encountered several of the insects, and once again asked that they spray, which they did, though there was no odor to the insecticide used, leading her to believe it was fairly weak as an insecticide. So if you don't like roaches, stay away. The first night there I headed to the ice machine for a bucket of ice, only to find that the ice maker was broken and out of commission. I asked the maintenance man about where I could get ice, and he advised me to go across the street to a competitor motel and use their machine. I chose, instead, to walk to a nearby grocery store and buy some. We reported the broken ice machine to the desk the next morning and were told that the clerk would advise the manager, but that the ice machine didn't belong to the motel so she doubted that it would be fixed until the owner decided to fix it. This turned out to be prophetic, I guess, since it was still broken when we left San Diego two days later. Another disappointment was the way this motel slipped a daily charge of $1.65 on to our individual bills for the safe that is in each of the rooms. We weren't advised ahead of time, and didn't, in fact, even use the safes, but there were three entries on our bills at checkout for the safe's rental during our three day stay. I thought that sort of cheap and uncalled for, especially since we were not told ahead of time about the charge. All in all, I'd have to say our stay at this motel was unsatisfactory, and we will not stay here again when we next visit San Diego.

The Worst Ever!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/05/07
This place is a set up from a dive! They have gang fights in the parking lots, the staff is useless. You ask for a towel and they say "if you come to the lobby". There is no security. For the price, it doesn't matter. The entire area is very unsafe and threatening. If you can, avoid this place at all costs.

Good Value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/11/07
My wife and I spent 2 weeks at this hotel and found it perfectly adequate for the price. Obviously, at the price you would not expect the hotel to be located in an upmarket suburb or to have luxury touches - and it isn't and it doesn't - but the room was clean, the bed comfortable and the heating worked (we were there in February) and there was nothing in the area that would frighten the horses. The breakfast was a bit stodgy - it would have been nice to find fruit on offer but it was all donoughts and such like with paper plates and plastic cutlery but hey, that's not the end of the world and overall it was a very fair deal for the price.

Ok, but not the best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/19/05
We stayed here for four nights and it was OK. There was a lot of disturbances throughout the night. Spanish people yelling and running up and down the walkways. This happened several nights. The room had one queen bed, but the room was very small. Only about half the size of a normal two bed room. However; the bathroom and everything was newer and clean. For the price, it was ok, but the Days Inn next door had much nicer rooms. My parents stayed there and I visited and it was nice! The price was I think was $10 more a night, but it might be worth it to you. Plus, the Days Inn had like 120 channels of satalite, the best western only had basic cable with 1 HBO. There is a McDonalds and Black angus restaurant in between this motel and the Days Inn and plenty of other places to eat around the area. Oh, the Days Inn also had Cont. Breakfast each morning which we didn't get at the BEst Western. There is also a Denny's restaurant across from the Days Inn. Overall, if you can foot the bill, stay at the Days Inn. It was nicer and had more amenities.
