Estancia La Jolla Hotel Spa, La Jolla

My sister & I stayed @ the Estancia hotel eight days (8) & were ready to leave, had we not prepaid for stay.We have traveled quite a bit,& the Estancia hotel was nice,but all it has going for them, are the beautiful grounds ! Everything else was ordinary & found most of the bell boys were very nice & helpful (Sean.)We (sister & I) didn't appreciate the daily self-parking charge of $20.00 & $17.00 daily for the basic amenities already prepaid with vacation package, the Estancia calls these amenities "Hospitality Service Fee !" I call it an infringement charge & downright sneaky !!

We got this hotel through a name-your-own-price on Priceline...far under what they normally charge for a room. I travelled here with my two sisters for a girls' get-away. Having travelled to the San Diego area many times before, we were not surprised by the $25/day valet fee (which is charged by the day, not for every entry as some other reviews have noted) or the $9/day resort fee which covers all amenities including internet, which we used (some hotels charge up to $15/day just for internet, so this was quite reasonable). The room decor was rather average, but the grounds and the service more than made up for it. The grounds are lovely and, though spread out, we quickly found that if we got lost, we enjoyed everything we came across, the fountain, the gardens, the pool, and eventually found our way back to our destination after a relaxing stroll through the grounds. We visited the spa, but didn't indulge in their offerings, which were comparably priced. Mustangs and Burros had delicious food and the room service was beautifully presented, quickly delivered and delicious as well. Every person we came across from the clerk at check in to the bell boy at check out was respectful and courteous and went out of their way to help us and meet our needs. This hotel is easy to find, quietly secluded and close to the beach in La Jolla as well as attractions in San Diego (a short 20-minute drive down the freeway). It is well worth the money and I would heartily recommend it to anyone who would like a quiet, relaxing stay.

Very relaxing! I'm from San Diego and we stay here when we return for visits. It is centrally located in San Diego and easily accesible to all freeways. For those who complained that you have to drive to get anywhere from here....welcome to San Diego, that's how it is. La Jolla Shores and La Jolla Cove are just a few minutes down the street and you have beautiful views driving down to the beach. Great spa, service, food and grounds. Call the hotel directly for special deals and comps.

The hotel did not inform us that they would be adding extra charges to the room for "Hospitality Services" of $12.00 per day and "Valet Services" of $25.00 per day. I have heard about other hotels charging extra if you use their parking, but to be charged extra because the hotel is a 4 star rather than a 3 star is news to me. I did not use the pool, the business center, the fitness center, but was charged the fee because the hotel has them. I expect to pay more for a 4 star over a 3 star, but these fees should be discusses before bokings. Marie

I am local resident and I found that the spa director was very rude and inconsiderate. I handle a disabled man who has a non-communicatable disease and they treated him as if he as a leper draining the spa after he used it. Incaccessiblility to many of the areas for someone in a wheelchair. Although they may put up a good front, minorities like myself and others that have spoken to have also express some differential treatment. I would reccomend this place (SPA). I hope that staff would take some sensitivity classes and also have management review why handicap people have rights and should be accomodated by making the hotel more handicap accessible. I made this known to management and now I have a ban on access after a very unprofessional discussion with the director of the spa (name with held). I would rather go to the Hotel Del Coronado back where I go regularly ANYONE walking in is treated like royalty. I have travelled all over the world and I certainly NEVER have been treated with both disrespect an disdain. Pass this on so management will get a clue and hire people who can be consistent and have a level of professionalism that equals or exceed industry standard. this hotel is so beautiful, the layout, the landscape, the rooms, the views, the pool....it was truly amazing. The staff was very helpful and cheerful and definately went "the extra mile". Having known that my husband and I were to be reunited after his service in Iraq, we arrived at our room to find rose pedals shaped to a beautiful heart all over our bed; it was so cute and thoughtful. We also found that our room had been upgraded to a balcony room and everyone was very helpful despite the date changes due to military flight delays. I would definately recommend this hotel!

I purchased a luxury spa treatment (3 package) for my wife as a birthday gift. She was very excited to lounge by the pool prior to and following her treatments, only to find out that the Spa guests are not allowed to use the pool area. When I was viewing Spa's to select the right one for her the website for the Spa showcased the pool on their home page.... how deceiving! Anyway, my wife enjoyed her treatments, but will opt for an all inclusive Spa in the future.

would be much better if it were located in downtown La Jolla. A bit isolated. Good amenities. Nice pool but not great for kids

We booked 5 rooms for our daughters wedding party with an American Express card a month in advanced. At that time we explained that we were paying for the rooms and parking. Upon check out, all four guests were charged for their rooms by direct billing on their credit cards or direct ATM withdrawl. When I was checking out they charged me for four rooms and could not find my daughters room. The desk clerk stated that the room did not exist (later it was explained that she was new). For all the villages missing their idiots, they can be found behind the desk at the Estancia Hotel.

and enjoy a wonderful brunch. The staff at Estancia were amazing and you could not ask for more beautiful surroundings. Salsa dancing and cocktails get you primed for a luxurious spa service the next morning. We loved every minute of our relaxing getaway!!
