Not at all what it is hyped to be

We came to Eureka Springs for a wedding and stayed at the hotel because of some of the wedding festivities. Well, it was not what we expected. To start off with, the check in was very time consuming and the front staff not friendly at all. I should say most of the people working here are not consumer friendly. The elevator worked about half the time and we had to walk 4 flights of stairs to our room. The staff must have thought this was fine because no one made any attempt to help anyone with anything. The biggest disappointment was the room!! Oh my, what can I say, It was old old old and not charming!. The carpet was filthy. It was out of the sixties brown/gold shag which I think someone had stapled to the wood floor beneath(I stepped on a staple). The floors were uneven and the lights were so dim you couldn't hardly see anything. And the smell was horrid. The air conditioner worked but threw the switch which we had to reconnect. The Blue Moon Spa is overpriced as is the food prices. The best part of the experience was the Sunday Brunch which was included with our room. I would never recommend this place to anyone. If they want to keep it old and charming, that's fine but this hotel is falling apart and dirty and that is not what people pay the high price for. They also need to make it more consumer friendly for older patrons. We should not have to climb stairs and carry our own luggage for these prices!!! And the whole staff needs to be trained on how to work with the public.
