Classy and Elegant

This beautiful, historic building is deifinitely not the modern, amenity-filled hotel many travelers have come to expect. But that's not the point here. Some rooms are slightly small, all are tastefully decorated, comfortable, clean and the service is excellent.
The only real complaint I have about this hotel is about the clock radio. I'm a former computer programmer, and I cannot set that darn alarm clock to wake me when I want it to! Use the wake-up call instead.
The restaurant, room service and "grill" are all very good. Even on infrequent trips, there's a server in the grill who remembers my drink and the bartender makes it just right every time! Food at Ashley's is fantastic, and the grill also provides a nice, although less-formal meal selection and atmosphere.
Don't go for the "amenities,: but definitely go... and stay at the Capitol at least once. You owe it to yourself.
