Stay Somewhere Else
By DGURU, 10/31/11
The location of the place is its' only redeeming quality. We went there for 2 nights and stayed here because this was the venue. We checked the reviews online and most said it was OK, it was NOT. This place is dirty and run down. The building is beautiful, but the rooms are not clean, they are furnished with cast offs from the Salvation Army, and they entire place just shows a lack of care and upkeep. We have stayed in historic buildings many times before, none were anywhere near as bad as this. Save your money and find somewhere else to stay.

Bedbugs
By Alison, 8/21/10
My husband and I received bedbug bites when we stayed there July 14, in room 404. I contacted the hotel to tell them about it, and received no response. Being bitten by bedbugs is disgusting. My husband's bites were gone in a couple weeks. I must be allergic to them, because my bites are still slowly healing after many weeks. The hotel was stinky and after telling the management about this problem I should have been contacted. Do not stay in this hotel.

Excellent Except for the Bed Bug Infestation!
By Stephanie, 7/10/10
Greeted by less than friendly staff, we were still excited to stay at the seemingly charm filled Basin Park Hotel during our Fourth of July holiday. Yes, we had to park a great distance & the water was tricky, but this was understandable considering the age of the building. Nonetheless, our Fourth of July weekend was great... until we arrived home, itchy. Very itchy. We arrived home Monday night, itchy as I said. Tuesday morning, working at my desk, I had to stealthily lift my blouse to see what causing much discomfort. Apparently I must be a very tasty lady! I received over 100 bites, easily! My lucky husband suffered about 12 bites. Our bites were about the chest, back and pelvic region. It truly is an ugly situation we're still scratching through exactly one week later. Clearly, the bed bugs must be old news to the staff at the hotel considering the amount of bites- this is no recent infestation. Fortunately after many go round with management, we were credited the amount we paid for our 2 night stay. We won't be returning. On the upside of things, despite the bug experience, our bed was supremely comfortable...best rest we've had in awhile!

Once was enough
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/18/09
I didn't like much about it. I disliked the parking situation. You have to park down the hill and shuttle to and fro (tipping & tipping) Elevator is inadequate, rooms need updating badly. I guess it's in line with the laid-back style of Eureka Springs, so if you keep that in mind, you'll do okay. But it just doesn't seem up to par with the money.

Keep Looking
By FaireyFantom, 7/8/08
I go to Eureka all the time. I stayed here once last year during the off season. I could tolerate the old musty creakiness---its an old hotel---But, I would not go back because you can't get a hot shower in the morning. The shuttle service was awesome and we come to the restaurant and bar just about every time we come but the staff was not the least bit sympathetic about our not having a shower. If you bring your pet, you will be on the smoking level and there really isn't a good place to walk a small dog. It is definitely not worth the money and we will stay somewhere else for a lot less where you can get a hot shower in the morning. Even though there is a coffee shop in the lobby, a restaurant with balcony bar usually offering live music, and another bar on the top floor, don't expect for guests of the hotel to get any comps or specials. You are better off paying $5 to park all day and hanging out on the balcony bar to people-watch.

Charming...
By JeffreyH, 3/15/08
I loved this hotel. yes it is older, but it has charm... and that is why we chose this hotel. Some people complain about the price, which is a little steep for what you are getting. I love the style of old hotels, so the money was not as big of an issue as it seems to be for some reviewers on yahoo. It is not a luxery hotel, but we felt it had plenty of romance.

Dirty and Poor Service
By LauraM, 11/16/07
We took our Son for a Halloween haunting weekend. We arrived in the evening to a dirty lobby. The stairs, halls and room were so much worse. Mismatched, no closet and bug infested. We found the bugs waiting for us after returning from a wonderful dinner at the Cresent Hotel. At least. 60 bugs. They moved us to an "upgrade at 11pm". The fireplace was sealed off with something trying to come in through it all night. We checked out the next morning. The staff was non-personal and somewhat unkempt. We love Eureka Springs. What a disappointment. Clean rooms are vital. This hotel is a D-.

If you do stay...location great...WILL NOT STAY AGAIN..and I will be Eureka, for another 12 NIGHTS in September. Business will go easy where.

Do yourself a favor and save the $$$
By FaireyFantom, 3/12/07
I have been to Eureka and stayed at many a place. I thought it would be nice to be right down town. This hotel is in a fabulous location right in the heart of downtown Eureka. The Basin Park has off-road parking at no additional charge and the shuttle drivers were extremely helpful. That is really the most positive thing I can come up with except that the restaurant is decent. You can bring your dog, but you will be on the smoking floor. Also there really isn't anywhere good to walk your dog for serious business. I could manage. I could even overlook the creaking floors and thin walls--it is an old hotel!! But not having warm water for a shower is absurd. This tells me that for the $140/night this hotel charges, management won't spend money to upgrade the facility. I have spent half the money and always had a hot shower in the morning and free breakfast and a place to walk my dog. The woman at the front desk could have cared less and it is an indication that this problem will not be resolved. Not only will I not be returning to the Basin Park but I probably will pass on staying at any of the other older hotels in the historic distric. FYI---The Cresent is owned by the same people so odds are it hasn't been updated either.

Don't Waste Your Money!
By disappointed, 2/21/07
I travel to Eureka several times throughout the year and typically spend $40-$50 per night at one of the hotels just before you get into Eureka. The ones I stayed in where clean, great staff and I always had hot water!! I decided to splurge and stay at the Basin Park Hotel in downtown. By splurging I mean spending $135 per night with tax. When you spend that much you expect certain things i.e. Furniture that won't fall apart, floors that don't creak with the slightest movement, touch up paint that actually matches the wall color and HOT WATER!!! Here it is 30 degrees outside and NO HOT WATER in the mornging!! I ask the attendant at the front desk why there was no hot water and she said "everyone must have taken a shower at the same time?" ?????? I would expect that the hotel would be prepared for having a full house and would be able to provide the appropriate plumbing/water heaters necessary for guests staying there!!! But I guess not. So again, it's nice to stay in the heart of town but you certainly will not get what you paid for. Don't waste your money! By the way... Two mornings no hot water from 7am-12 noon.
