I must say that the staff at the Shilo was the best I have seen in a long time; the rooms where nice it looks like they have started updating them from the last time I was there a few years back. the pool was BIG and I loved the Sauna and big fitness center!!!! over all a great stay great location and great people : ) Rock on Shilo!

I recommended this hotel but regret doing so
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/19/08
My family came from England recently and I recommended the Shilo Inn, I once stayed there and had a good experience. Unfortunately, over the years the Shilo Inn in Yuma has gone down in many ways except for the very friendly front office Staff. My family stayed at the Shilo for 10 days, the rooms were run down, things broke and it smelt like sour milk. I felt so bad that I recommended this hotel! It's a real shame because the location of the Shilo is perfect and the pool is one of the biggest pools I've ever seen at a hotel. Don't expect a perfect experience.....I won't be recommending this hotel anymore.

Afraid I would catch a disease
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/06/08
As a retired Marine Corps aviator I spent many comfortable days at this hotel. In the late 1980's the Shiloh was the place to stay in Yuma and I would then have compared it to any hotel south of Phoenix. The restaurant was quite nice and the food was good. The bar was a pleasant place to unwind or do business. The rooms were very comfortable, of course the hotel was nearly new then. A couple of months ago I was in Yuma on business and stopped by the Shiloh to check out one of my old favorites and was appalled by the condition of the hotel. On the pretext of checking in I asked to see a room only to discover dirty carpets, a sewage smell in both the rooms I was shown and an overall nastiness to the entire facility. The staff was surly, (it took my nearly demanding to be shown a room), before a very unhappy person was dispatched to fulfill this request. The entire staff seemed very unhappy but resigned to working at the Shiloh as if they had no other place to go. I was extremely thankful that I had reservations at the Holiday Inn Yuma where I was treated as if I were a king. The Shiloh has a great location and great potential but the owners will have to virtually gut the property and completely renovate before I stay at the Shiloh again.

Sewage smell.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/23/08
We've stayed here many times over the past several years. The overall experience continues to fall down a notch on every visit. The sewage smell in the hall in our wing was the last straw. Four days worth. The breakfast, once a gourmet delight with an omlett(sp) person now has morphed into a small table with canned fruit and a taste of left overs for every thing else. We are sorry because we really loved to stay here. Now it will be the Holiday Express. What a sad change.

Pretty Decent Place Apr 07
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/14/07
Stayed here 12 days in Mar-Apr 07 on business. Was initially reluctant based on other reviews, but my experience was positive. Rooms are a bit outdated, but they had everything I needed: fridge (very small), microwave, coffee maker (excellent Seattle's Best coffee). Very friendly staff. Grounds were very attractive and location is outstanding, next to large shopping area with many restaurants (5-10 minute walk). Most important to me, their wireless internet was free, signal was always strong and never dropped a connection. I was very happy with my stay here. Oh, forgot--the free full breakfast was very good and the few times I tried the restaurant it was excellent. MT

look elsewhere
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/23/07
During a 9 day stay I had 3 different rooms. The first room on the first floor had a broken that would not close completely, and the toilet flooded the room the first time I flushed it. Internet connectivity on their wireless network was horrible to non-existant. Staff did not care. Moved to second room on 1st day at my request after flooded floor. It was OK, but no internet connectivity, which I have to have as a business traveler. Third room had slow flushing toilet, damaged countertop, and condensation from A/C unit was dripping back into the room so that the floor was soggy under the A/C. I was very glad to check out.

Couldn't wait to check out!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/04/07
The only hotel that was available, in the middle of January. The staff was very unfriendly, had to stay here for three weeks and hated every day I was here. Even the bartender was unfriendly. Ate at the restaurant once and that was the last time. The manager did not want to even talk to me. Please make your reservations early so that you aren’t stuck in this place.

It's just okay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/16/06
You can tell this place used to be The Place To Stay in Yuma at one time but it really needs to be updated. The rooms are tired and dated and need some work. In my room, the laminated edge of the counter in the kitchenette was peeling off and there was a hole in the wall behind the door where the doorknob hits. The decor is pastels and the carpet looked liked it needed to be cleaned. The service was friendly but they weren't overly helpful. The breakfast was in another building and was adequate. There are a few newer and much nicer hotels now in Yuma. The Shilo needs to put a lot of work into their hotel if they want to compete.
