WHAT DO YOU EXPECT
By lots-to-say, 8/7/11
This isnt my first place to come for a good time thats for sure. This town is old and theres NOTHING around. Everything is old and rundown. No nightlife what so ever. My dad grew up here and when we was young this town was active. I like to come back because its the birthplace of my family. We have our family reunions here at my grandmas and its like the whole town comes to life haha. The gadsen is such a nice hotel and holds a lot of history not to mention its haunted who doesnt like a haunted hotel? If u want a fancy hotel go to beverly hills hotel. so stop complaing about how dirty and run down it is. HELLO?!??? do u not know where your at. I LOVE coming here and listening to my dads stories of how much fun he had i would recommend the gadsen to anyone if you have an open mind. IM 26 and I love to party this def isnt a party town but I always get excited when I come to douglas and always go back with lots of memories!! =)

Left much to be desired
By JP, 6/26/09
We stayed in a King Suite and it was not worth the money at any price. The tubs were dirty and rusted. The sink and tubs had soap scum in them. The towels were old and ripped. The lobby is still grand, but the hotel is in need of repair. The ghost stories seem to be a come on to get people to pay the high price they charge to stay there. The only place to eat at night after about 9:30 is Pizza Hut. The hotel coffee shop even shuts down early. Go to Motel 6 and save your money.

wedding at the gadsden on 2-16-08
By rick, 2/19/08
The whole hotel staff worked together as a team to help me as the mother-of-bride with every detail. It was wonderful to have such a wonderful team or i could not have do it. They were thoughtful, my guest were treated like royality. The food was great. I am still having people call me and tell me how beauitful it was and raving about the food. The cost saved me a bundle of money. The team including the manger who was avail. at all times Gadsden is a 5 star in my book. you should do your next event there because they make you feel important. They have great team of workers that makes it worth the while. THANKS GADSDEN FOR MAKING MY DAUGHTERS WEDDING A FAIRY TALE EVENT.

Don't stay here, just visit the lobby.
By Ariel, 6/26/06
The only good thing about this hotel is the lovely old lobby. The room they put us in reminded me of the kind of room you see in movies, where the people don't have but 20 bucks, to spend on a room. The toliet refused to flush, the tv in the room was at least 10 to 15 years old. The bed and carpet looked like they hadn't been changed since the 1970's. If we had stayed, we would have been charged $100 for this room. Needless to say, we asked for our money back. We stayed at the Motel 6 instead, and its a sad day when a Motel 6 looks like heaven.

Last of the Grand Hotels
By BP, 7/16/04
If you can’t stay at the Gadsden, don’t stay in Douglas (not a bad idea anyway). It’s well worth the stop just to check out the lobby, it is fantastic, especially when compared to the rest of the hotel. You can get a decent and interesting room if you move up to the “King” room, at about $70 per night. Be sure to specify that you want an air conditioner in your room; no that’s not standard, but hey it’s only 100+ degrees outside! The coffee shop isn’t bad and there is a small bar and beauty shop in the lobby.
