Description

Northern Arizona's liveliest and most attractive town, Flagstaff occupies a dramatic location beneath the San Francisco Peaks, halfway between New Mexico and California. Straddling the I-40 and I-17 interstates, it's both a way station for tourists en route to the Grand Canyon, eighty miles northwest, and one mile from the Flagstaff Airport.Downtown, where barely a building rises more than three stories, oozes Wild West charm. Its main thoroughfare, Santa Fe Avenue, used to be Route 66, and before that the pioneer trail west. A stroll around Flagstaff's central few blocks is gloriously evocative of the past. The tracks of the Santa Fe Railroad still cut downtown in two, so life remains punctuated by the mournful wail of passing trains.Ever since it was founded, in 1876, Flagstaff has been a diverse place, with a strong black and Hispanic population, and Navajo and Hopi heading in from the nearby reservations. Now home to just over fifty thousand, it makes an ideal base for travelers. As well as the abundant hotels, hostels, restaurants, bars, and shops downtown, food and lodging chains line the interstates.

Shut this disgusting motel down!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/24/11
The room smells terrible, even Febreeze wouldnt work. OMG! I almost fell over with each room they tried to offer me. They refuse to refund me way before 30 min. after check in like it states on their sign up at the front desk. Please check it out before you run yur card, and dont even reserve this filthy place! IT STINKS!!

Very Disappointed!
By G., 6/21/10
Worst stay of our trip so far. Promised nice breakfast, had almost nothing. Room nice but not as clean as it should have been. Paid way too much. "Maid" knocks and knocks on room door, well before checkout. This was extraordinarily rude and unprofessional, and it's the reason for this review. I almost never complain, but this really made me angry.

Never Again!
By nancy b, 7/18/08
The room was very nice but the TRAIN! It comes by every 30 minutes and more often at times all night long blowing its whistle or horn ... Every time I dozed off to sleep, here came the train blowing its horn and would just jar me awake! When I complained at the desk, I was told I would get a $10.00 discount, but havent seen that yet as they already had charged me. The said they were sorry, but this was a "train town". They also said they have earplugs ordered but they have not come in. There are many other hotels in the area and farther away from the train. I just wish I had known about them before I stayed there. We were sightseeing in the area and at the last minute decided to stay.

nice stop through Arizona
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/8/07
Our family took a trip from california to grand canyon early this summer and we stopped at many small motels in arizona including Sedona and Flagstaff. Spent two nights at the Best Western Kings inn in Flagstaff which is on historic route 66 and was quite impressed. Very clean rooms, friendly staff and the cookies at 4pm was a hit with the kids. Pool was clean and refreshing and enjoyed by the kids as well. Close to a very quaint town and observatory. Would definitely stay with them again.

NICE PLACE, GREAT VALUE AGAIN
By john, 6/9/07
I am a repeat customer to this property. The motel has been totally renovated, rooms and lobby look and feel great, I inquired with front desk staff who informed me the property was under new management. Love the fresh warm cookies at 4pm !

Keep on moving down the road
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/4/06
I stayed with a group in this place for 3 nights - Some things to consider: 1. The high speed internet is a joke. You can connect to the hotel router but getting out onto the internet is very, very slow. It's as if they were using a dialup connection to the internet. If you are counting on using the internet, don't. The guy at the front counter said that it was slow for them and they were wired in. There is a Starbucks about a block away, you might consider using that. 2. This is the first hotel that I have ever stayed at that took the money upfront for all 3 nights. I am used to having a credit card to guarantee me paying but they actually ran the 3 nights charges. I guess that they don't want to take a chance that you are going to leave once you check in. 3. The train is across the highway and it comes about every 15 minutes. I don't think that I got a complete night's sleep while I was there. There are hotels on the other side of Flagstaff that you don’t have the problem with trains. Use one of them. 4. The breakfast is a joke, bad coffee and bad pastries. On another note, Flagstaff is a very nice little town and you should take some time to check it out.
