3 reviews for Sitka, Sitka
Best Hotel in Sitka
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/11/07
I'm not shure what the other reviews are talking about...first of all everything in Alaska is more expensive than in the lower 48 states so thats to be expected. The prices are great for what you get! The other hotels in town that i've been too are just run down and cheap, again yah get what ya pay for! And yes the Westmark is on the waterfront, yah look out the window and there's the ocean. all ya have to do is walk across the street and you could be swiming in it, if ya dared! oh, and the resturant is wonderful, great Alaskan seafood! And the lounge is cool especially if ya want to kick back have a drink and watch some sports or just stare out the window at the beautiful seenary! This Hotel even has its own TV channel telling you where all the major sites are! Sitka is a small beautiful town and the Westmark will put you right in the middle of all the action!

It's nice...but expensive
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/25/06
I would not say that this hotel, is right on the water, as stated in the previous review. Sitka is a small town that resides next to the water. But this hotel is a couple blocks off the water. Just to be correct. It's a fairly nice hotel. I paid 182 w/ taxes through expedia. I thought it was very expensive considering the location and the town-size. Hopefully you can find a better price directly from the hotel. Our room had two single beds, with fairly old matresses. The bathroom was clean and the view was nice. We were on the 5th floor and still could hear cars outside. A fairly average hotel room. Anywhere in Sitka would be walking distance to anything in Sitka. It is a small town with lots to see. The one great thing is that the restaurant had good food, there was a Subway across the street and behind that was a good coffee shop. It is also located close to the shopping district. The service we received was good. Oh, and there is also the best Fly Fishing shop at the bottom floor of the hotel.

Horrid Service-High Prices
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/05
Restaurant service and prices are ridiculous. Takes forever to get food and costs tree times what you would pay anywhere else on the planet. Hotel rooms were OK, but it took 5 minutes to find someone to check me in, and they were not too happy to be interupted from whatever conversation was going on in the back room.
