alaskin hotel

Adequate with old time charm ask for Ken. he was very helpful. Pros: Location, high Victorian ceilings wi fi, great beach/ bath towels, lots of hot water. comfortable clean bed, kitchenette, lots of TV channels , flat screen TV. Cons: bad carpet, across from popular bars resulting in drunk homeless wandering outside on street level at night, no elevator. Over all it was a nice place if you are on a budget, are able to climb stars, and are security minded. Our room #307 quiet at night. Would stay again.

Don't Stay Here!
By Runnergirl90232, 8/8/08
We couldn't find a hotel to host us during our full time in Juneau and had to stay one night at this awful place. The room had a private bathroom but it was filthy and smelled like stale Tijuana Pine Sol. The window was wide open and could be accessed from the hill outside. The shower had no hot water, the carpet had stains, hair, who knows what else. The drunks from the bar downstairs kept trying to open our door and brawls could be heard all night long. In the morning, a cockroach was spotted crawling on the bed. Totally gross!!

putrid, disgusting, never again.
By happy, 8/5/08
The hotel room was putrid, worse than I expected (having heard rumors). I had to literally sleep fully clothed with my head in my coat. I sat in the bar downstairs until 1:00 a.m. avoiding having to be in the room. The room wreaked of body odor, sheets were stained and there was hair in the sheets from a previous guest (disgusting drunk perhaps) as beer bottles were still on the shelf of my "clean" room. Shared bathrooms were disgusting as well. No paper towels or toilet paper. I will never stay here again.

bad choice
By leah, 1/31/08
The walls are very thin, you can hear EVERYTHING next door, and the band in the bar plays on the weekends 10-2 am. Rooms are filthy--hair everywhere, stained sheets. Cigarette burns in carpet, had to prop window up with box. There was a drunk man with his pants down in the hall, drunk people passed out outside the front doors. Your lucky if you find any parking spot. Location is good for walking to bars downtown. They do allow dogs which was the only reason I booked it.

great place
By Fitz, 5/24/07
great place to stay. very clean. great location. guy at front was helpful and recommended great places to eat. and, he let us stow our bags since we were there at 7 am. better than a hostel any day and cheaper than anyplace else.

cold room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/13/07
My room was not heated as it was snowing outside The guy at the reception desk was to absorbed by his video game to help. 60$ without breakfast in a cold room is not a good value, but the cheapest hotel in town since the hostel was closed.

An echo of time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/25/05
We loved it for our honeymoon, the Alaskan Hotel was quite the experience. It is a mom-and-pop operation that is being run on a grassroots level, so visitors have to forgive the quaint, Victorian feeling.. all part of its restoration. No two people will have the same experience two different times there. Also, we met some of Juneau's authentic characters in this ghost-filled Inn.
