Hotel Villa Mexicana, El Hujal

This is one of my fondest vacation experiences. The hotel is very small, quaint and not pretentious. You don't get lost in all the traffic and it is like a true get-away. It is set in the middle of the bay and you walk out of your room and no more than 100ft and you are at your chaise lounge staring into the beautiful water. The time that I was there, they had 2 girls on the beach area that gave 40 minute massages for about $30. We got 3 massages in our 5 day stay. They were wonderful. The pool is very small and if that is what you are looking for, this is not it. The hotel restaurant has a fabulous staff that is professional and freindly. By the end of the week they will know your name and favorites if you give them the opportunity. Every day you come home to a clean room with little towel animals and flowers on your bed. For the nightlife, it is only a 3 minute taxi ride away to some of the most fabulous restaurants and clubs. I truly recommend this as a favorite, relaxing getaway.

Villa Mexicana is located RIGHT on the La Ropa Beach. We stayed in RM 1408. Second floor with great ocean views/breezes. Food & service at resturant was good, nothing special food wise but good. Like most beds in Mexico, they were very hard. We were dissappionted in the pool. Great for kids but not big enough nor deep enough for adult swimming-but with the ocean so close, who cares anyways. And I would like to have a mini fridg in the rooms to keep beverages cold and breakfast/lunch parishables cold. We will probably try another hotel just for the pool and kitchenette extras-it is worth it to us to have them.

Good service & excellent beach, but: 1. Small swimming pool, 2. Poor service at Restaurant. 3. No kid's club.

The Hotel Villa Mexicana was an exquisite place to vacation. I went with my mother and father, we almost felt as though we never needed to leave to hotel. The beach front property spralls across the beach so practically every room has an ocean view. There is a wonderful quaint restaurant right in the sands, next door to the Hotel Via called Elviras; the restaurant is a wonderful place to unwind from a day in the sun, for a late dinner, as the tide splashes on your feet. My family and I will definately be going back for another visit as soon as we can find time in our busy schedules to do so.
