Golden Parnassus Resort & Spa Adults Only All-Inclusive, Zona Hotelera

First time to Cancun. The staff was helpful and friendly, but beware of the "sister" hotel visit and memberships that they try and talk you into. Lobby was open, airy, and colorful. Beach was nice with plenty of chairs and two bars closeby. Room was air-conditioned and clean. Very attentive to room cleanliness, they even called to make sure we had enough towels. The buffet was the best, followed by the Shangrila and the Sumo. 24-hour-room service. No children around, lots of adult activities. Overall experience was good except for an incident on the first evening: we were notified around 9pm that: "check out was tomorrow" and "no further reservations on computer" and "nothing they could do" and possible "make new reservations tomorrow with another credit card." What??? Yahoo travel had booked the vacation for another three days and already charged it to a card. Upon arrival, we even signed a printed piece of paper with the correct check out date! The next morning around 6am, we headed down to the front desk with our Yahoo email/paper work. Suddenly "everything was fine" and "taken care of" and "being worked on." It caused us a lot of unnecessary stress on our first evening.

Great vacation! Extremely friendly staff. Great food, great activities, would def go back!

We have stayed in differern resorts in Cancun,and there are very few that you will get service like this one.The stsff was great .Food excellent.Beach not bad.Granted it could you a face llift,but overall it was great.Will definately return again in 2010.

We just got back Friday June 26th 09. The place was under construction, we hadto change rooms cause we were woke up 2 mornings early to hammer drilling. Food same in all the rest. when they are open. They aren't all open everyday and neither are the bars. The ONLY place open for lunch is a crappy buffet. As soon as you get there you are hit by time share people that discredit the Golden saying it is only a marketing hotel and if you want the 'good hotel' you have to get involved in a week package program at another hotel. The activities are a complete joke. There was only one sow at the Galaxy teater and it was delayed a whole day. Other activities i.e. clubbing, kayaking left at least 30 min late and really did not amount to much. There just isn't anything going on here. When we were doing research on this hotel we really didn't see many negative reviews now there are several. DO NOT waste yor money here. At least the rooms were clean.

DISLIKES= hardly any resturants were open, so you had to got to the sister hotel, which had only a few opened. Beach non, Rocks Yes . Pool small . Food same in all the resturants, just a different place. They didnt keep room clean. Speaking of room we were put in wrong room and had to call our travel agent. If you choose to stay there do not book lagoon side, book ocean side no higher than third floor . 4ht anf 5th floor you will sweet at night the rooms will not keep you cool aty night.THey didnt stock refigerator like they are suppose too and when you called room service you get the run around.. Value I guess you get what you pay for and I wont be going back there. THe only thing I did like is the people who I meet their were some great people there...... I will say this some of the staff is super great I did how ever get a deep massage the girl was great.

I would never recommend this place to anyone. I was quoted one price and was charged $2000.00 more. There are many places that are so much nicer for the money.

We stayed here in febuary this year, from day one they messed up opur room and sent us to there sister hotel and didn't work with us at all. I will never come back to this chain again

My wife and I just arrived back in the US from our recent nightmare in Cancun! We stayed at the Golden Parnassus, from the moment we arrived in the lobby my wife and I agreed it was not a 5 star hotel. We started walking towards the front desk when we were ushered to the lobby lounge to check in......never had that happen at any other 5 star hotel we've been too. The welcoming / check in gal delivered some "house drink" to us that tasted like crap and had little hairs in it...... she gave us our wrist bands so we could go to the pool and hang out before our check in time and directed us to the spa bathrooms to change. We went downstairs to the bathroom and I walked in the men's room to meet face to face with a man spraying for bugs at 10:30AM on Friday Nov.28th 2008. I've never seen a bug man at any 5 star hotel we've stayed in nor have I seen any bugs! When we were able to go to the front desk to get our room key they handed us a check in package that included a TV remote control, Safe Key, Towel Cards and our room keys. My wife and I have stayed at a lot of 5 star hotels and we've NEVER had the front desk hand us a TV remote or a safe key normally the safe key is my driver liscense or a credit card! When we went to the room it was all wrong, When we booked this trip we booked the room with a King size bed view optional of ocean or lagoon, when we went to the room we went to the room and noticed that room was right next to the elevators, the bathroom light didn't work and the room had two double beds. We went to the front desk and they gave us an upgraded room which was ocean/ roof view on the 2nd floor above the lobby lounge......What a joke is all I can say....We slept an average of 5 hours each night for 6 nights with the TV on is all I'm going to say. The front desk wouldn't do anything for us! LOUD VERY LOUD! We were trapped, this place gets all kinds of feed back about how great the bartenders, Jesus, Lobito (The Entertainment Manager) and several others are which is the only thing I say was correct. If Lobito was the Hotel manager it might be alot different but since he can't run it all at this point I would say SKIP IT! Our room was not 5 star nor is the hotel even close to 5 star, the food in the hotel in something you would find at any average truck stop. Our room had a ceiling fan that didn't work but it did have all the wires hanging out the bottom of it..... I would sum it up like this, if you want a entry level hotel this will fit the bill, I'm pretty sure if Super 8 build a hotel in Cancun it would be nicer than this place. If your looking for a 5 star hotel I'd tell you to check out one of the three Riu hotels, The Ritz, Barcelo TuCancun, Aqua, ME, All those are really nice and are very clean and I would say true 5 star status. Hope this little hint helps you sleep better in Cancun! Cancun is truly a beautiful place it's just some of the hotels are not and Golden Parnassus is not.

it is run down, very old and dirty this should not be rated a 4-5 star. we left wouldn't even stay 1 night.

My Husband and I went(from california) in January for my birthday we was surprised with how wonderful it was we had a great time our friends from different states meet us there (ages30-38)it was great while there we booked are annivesary stay for july.the club room package it self is five star,just have a five star dinner in your room with all the fixings candles,waiter all we need was a band when we returned it was even better.
