10 reviews for Alamar Resort Inn, Virginia Beach
Wonderful Hotel!
By Adam, 09/25/09
This is a great hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. Very clean attractive room, nice location and easy access to everything. They put together a nice golf package for us. This is our 4th stay at The Alamar and is has been consistantly great. We will be back.

Best Hotel in Virginia Beach
By Marie, 09/20/09
This is a little gem of a hotel. Beautiful, great staff- very attentive and helpful with recommendations for things to do and restraurants. They referred us to a fabulous italian restraurant . Even made the reservations for us. Easy access to the beach and everything there is to do. Fishing peer is close, amusement park as well. Heated pool was wonderful. Prices are reasonable and we loved the room, Had a suite and is was immaculate. Hotel is nicely landscraped and very attractive. Enjoyed the observation decks - nice views and attractively done, We will definitely be back

Needs Repair, Would not return
By Bob, 09/02/09
No ice, pool not available, limited parking within premises, room was not cleaned first day of visit, refridgerator was filthy. General premises in state of maintenance. Alamar management has an indifferent attitude towards issues that we brought up, (i.e. no compromise, "it's not our problem ice machine doesn't work, and the pool pump is broken"). This hotel looks ok from a distance, a closer look provides a different view of hotel ownership not willing to invest into the property to maintain the basics.

We will go back.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/21/08
We stumbled upon the Alamar at 9:30 one night after driving for 10 hrs. to get to Virginia Beach. The manager, Doug, was right there when we walked thru the door and had a room for us that was exactly where we wanted it. The place itself is in a very convenient location, walking distance to just about everything. The service was great, the staff very friendly, we couldn't ask for a nicer stay. We stayed for 2 days, then drove to No. Carolina, stayed a couple of days, then drove back up to Virginia and again stayed at the Alamar. Can't wait to come back in the fall.

Extremely affordable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/17/07
Location is great. Near the boardwalk and shopping. The decor is in the 80s. Dark colors and wall paper. The bathrooms were updated. The kitchenette was stocked with everything needed to cook with. There was a furnace in one of the closets with a hole in that wall. All in all, the price was right, and they supplied clean white towels daily. We were told not to leave make-up on the towels or wash cloths or they would have to charge extra.

I would never go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/24/07
Upon arrival at approx. 3:30 p.m. there was no one there to check in. The office doors were locked. There was a group of us waiting to register. It was fortunate that we did have to wait. Upon checking out the premises we found a linen room in complete disarray, an equipment storage room same condition, and a laundry/kitchen room in despicable condition. Food left out, filthy pots, pans and dishes spread about. NOT GOOD. It was decided that no one would check in until some rooms were looked at. After more than a 2 hour wait, the manager arrived dripping wet with a surf board. He had been out surfing while we waited. If you run a hotel especially one touted as a resort then you should treat potential guests as though it were a resort. I will never know how or why AAA has given this dump a great rating.

Nice Place to Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/05/07
I Read several reviews before my trip and most of them were right on. The staff, rooms, pool, etc. are nice and a good value for the money. Very quite and secure location. Navy planes are a bit noisy and getting across Pacific Ave. can take a few minutes but it's close to everything. All in all I recommend this place and would stay here again. It was nice having a suite with the kitchen and bedroom. Kitchen had many items including, coffee maker, some dishes/glasses/utensils, etc. If you plan on doing some cooking I'd bring your favorite skillet, knife, paper, and plastic items. Only issue was the tiny ants which I'm sure are not exclusive to the Alamar. Just don't leave any open food lying around in your room or your car their unstoppable!

Very nice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/07
What a great find staying at the Alamar. I usually come down 2 weekends a year and had never heard of this place. I usually stay oceanfront but could not find any rooms and stumbled on the Alamar. The rooms are beautiful and spotless clean. Restrooms were obviously newly remodeled. Staff was pleasant and very attentive. Not the oceanfront room I was looking for but a short enough walk and centrally located. I'll actually check with this place first next time. Keep up the good work guys!

Great service, clean rooms and pool
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/30/06
My Family visted the Alamar over Memorial weekend and had a great time. The rooms were very clean, nice linens and pillows and the pool was sparkling. All rooms face the pool and we had a 1 bedroom with a kitchen on the second floor. The kids enjoyed a small game room and the rooftop deck was perfect for watching fireworks. There really were no negatives, the furnishings were slightly dated, but everything was clean and functional. There is a laundermat on the 2nd floor. The landscaping was well kept and it was a short walk to the beach, boardwalk and amusement park. The kitchen was fully equipped with all appliances and a full size fridge. "Doug" the person who runs the place and lives there, was available at anytime to answer questions and make recommendations for places to eat and things to do. We would gladly return as to not pay the high price of staying oceanfront in some of the not so nice hotels.
