Ansonborough Inn is located within the historic district of downtown Charleston. Near the market area, you can walk to the finest restaurants, shopping and entertainment the Holy City has to offer. Ansonborough Inn resides on property that was named after Lord Anson of England who, while on assignment to protect Charleston from pirates, won the property in a spirited poker game. Originally a three-story stationer's warehouse (circa 1901), the building was designed for individual condominium units. As a result our suites are large and range from 450 to 750 sq ft. Following that renovation, Ansonborough Inn has been transformed into a charming all-suite inn rivaling any in the South. Our majestic atrium welcomes you with exposed heart pine beams and local fire red brick. These elements were commonly used during the period and are incorporated in the decor throughout the inn. Each room has data ports for internet access, dual phone lines and voice mail. The guest business center is also available 24/7 with our compliments. We are a non-smoking and pet free establishment. A delightful continental breakfast is served each morning in the Centurion Room. Each afternoon, enjoy our wine and cheese social with our own home made pimento cheese dip. Welcome. Come experience true Southern Hospitality.

Best of the Best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/18/09
AWESOME PLACE!!! We have stayed several times & have been very pleased. The rooms are always *spotless*. The staff goes above & beyond your expectations. The wine and cheese social hour is a huge plus. This is a very charming and romantic place to stay that has alot of character. The exposed brick with the huge wooden beams is something I dont think anyone else can even compete with. The distance to all the "things to do" is just a short walk with a Harris Teeter grocery store across the st. The rooftop terrace gives you a great view with seating. I really do not think you would be disappointed with anything. Park your car, check in and have fun!!!

For a couples getaway, nothing better
By KennethC, 10/26/09
I have stayed at this beautiful B&B many times over the years, I have always found the rooms to be elegantly appointed and perfectly maintained. The location makes it easy to walk to dinner and attractions on Meeting Street. A very romantic getaway for anyone considering it. ( Can buy Champagne/Strawberries from next door as well !) I recommned the Ansonborough Inn to anyone considering Charleston as a vacation destination, and I have never heard of anyone being anything but thrilled.

A great nights stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/04/09
We stayed at the Ansonborough Inn for one night on our way home. We were able to check in 3 hours early to get settled and see the sights. The staff during the day was very nice...night desk attendant was not so much. Location was great, minutes from all sorts of downtown attractions, shopping and dining. Only hang up was that we called for a 6am wake up call because we had a long drive ahead of us and no one ever called.

Don't go during the rain or leave anything behind!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/05/08
There was a downpour after check in and before we left for dinner. We were enjoying the cocktail hour and blissfully unaware that the parking lot was flooding. It wasn't until the next day that other visitors asked if my car was okay. Apparently quite a few people watched as cars were flooded during the one hour downpour. Did the Inn personnel warn anyone or ask? NO! I guess it was in the fine print? It took four days for my car to completely dry out. Thank goodness there doesn't seem to be any permanent damage, only the faint smell of a dead animal! Also I accidentally left a nice foam pillow in a beautiful green pillowcase. I travel with this pillow because it is more comfortable than most offered. I called back twice asking (once the night of my departure and again the next day). The desk personnel were only marginally helpful and tried to tell me that my pillow surely looked and felt like every other pillow they had (sage green and many times heavier than regular pillows!). On my last frustrating call they assured me the head person, a Miss Bertha, would call me to let me know if my pillow was found. I never received a call. I am underwhelmed by the "extra" inch the staff goes to make this a truly memorable visit.

Greatest Place I've Ever Stayed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/29/08
This was the best place we've ever stayed. My husband and I went here on our honeymoon and were blown away by not only by how nice the room was, but by the location! You could walk just about everywhere! It was absolutly beautiful!

Great atmosphere, great location!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/07
We were very, very pleased with our stay . . . the staff was very friendly and helpful, the location was excellent - right near Market St., the continental breakfast was fantastic - fresh and well stocked, best coffee ever, lovely rooms . . . a little bit musty due to humidity . . . lots of artwork (not so great paintings but the volume of art added to the warmth) - I would highly recommend staying here!!!!

Thought it would be
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/24/07
How sad is it to spend $240.00 to stay in a place that could be great. I live in SC and wanted to get away for a great night on the town. Great place to stay, wonderful drinks, and great food. The hotel room was nice and a wonderful size with a very nice bath and the knigh bed was fine. The staff on the other hand were about as happy to see you as your local dinner staff would be. They all dressed like that just got out of bed and they made you feel like you should be happy that they got up. The lobby was not cleaned and polish and the morning meal came out of a saralee box. Coffee was week and the juice was well from concentreate. To bad what a great place this could be.

Friiendly, beautiful, historic
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/20/07
We loved staying at this friendly and service oriented hotel. The staff was able to get us a carriage ride on a moments notice, the suite was warm and cozy and welcoming, and it was a beautiful place to come "home" to and recharge. We would definitely come back. A great value.

Everything about this hotel is great! This was my second stay there and I will continue to make Ansonborough my home away from home while in Charleston in the future.
