Best Hotel in South Beach!

I loved everything about the catalina. The bed was the most comfortable bed me and my girlfriend have ever slept on. There are 2 great restaurants and 2 beautiful pools. The pool on the roof of the Dorset was so amazing, with a bar and lounge beds. Everything was perfect. The room was a great size, and very clean. And the price for the stay was very reasonable. The location was a block from the beach in a hot area. We had the best time ever and can't wait to go back! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in South beach.

Super staff and a great value!

I loved the friendly service, trendy design, comfortable rooms, and convenient location - all at a great value. I visited the Catalina and stayed in the Dorset section for a long weekend and couldn't have been happier with the staff that always greeted us with a smile. Everyone was accomodating and couldn't have been nicer, helping us with requests for poolside drinks, giving recommendations for shopping, and arranging for transportation whenever we needed it. This hotel is trendy with lots of atmosphere and offers a great location for going to the beach, checking out nightlife or just relaxing and people-watching at one of the Catalina's outdoor restaurants. I will definitely be back and will recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

Chic decor,divine locale,yummy eats & great staff!

Just got back from a great weekend with a group of friends! The location is perfect. We stayed on the Dorset side. Check-in was quick and the guys at the desk couldn't have been friendlier. The room was huge and the decor was chic. I felt right at home! Btw, love, love, love the bed- so comfy! We ate at both Kung Fu sushi and Maxine's. I'm still craving Kung Fu's signature roll and Maxine's salads are so generous and tasty. Neither restaurants disappoint. Attractive & extremely warm staff, great locale and free happy hour drinks- I'm coming back and telling friends!

Cool Chic Hotel!

I have been to south beach a number of times and stayed at many hotels. My friends told me about the Catalina so I decided to try it! It far exceeded my expectations! The location is brilliant - right across the street from the beach with a fabulous pool on the ground floor & rooftop. They have two restaurants that are always happening & delicious. The staff was so nice and helpful. The best part were the rooms - so super cool & trendy - and the beds are so comfy. I am going to tell more of my friends to try this chic hotel! thumbs up!

Love this hotel!

I love this hotel. It is right across from the beach and close to all the nightlife. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind, and the hotel itself is totally hip! When I showed up tired from my long flight, a man greeted me with a smile, grabbed my bag and opened the door to the hotel for me. My room was beautiful (I stayed in the Dorset side.) It had gorgeous wallpaper, a chandelier, large brand-new TV, Toto toliet (gotta love that) and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on in a hotel. Both the pools at the hotel were beautiful, and well-stocked with towels. I ate at Maxine's and KungFu (the hotel's restaurants) and the food was amazing at both. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a great time in South Beach!

One of the best hotels!

This hotel is in the perfect location and is absolutely wonderful! A very trendy ambiance throughout all of the lobbys and rooms. Very welcoming and unique. Not only is the hotel in a great location, all the staff were incredibly friendly and always asking if there was anything we needed! And both the restaurants, The Maxine and KungFu sushi are amazine! Truly, a fantastic stay!

It really is as bad...

Despite all the negative reviews I decided to stay at the Catalina Hotel. Both Catalina and Maxine Hotel look pretty in the pictures but when you actually get to those two hotels that are next two each other you find yourself disappointed to say the least. Every negative review I read is true: You find a very young, trashy and noisy crowd, the hotel is not very clean, run down and smelly. The bathrooms are tiny and after you had a shower the entire bathroom is wet. The AC works but only on one level and is very loud. Their white towels have stains. The common areas, lobby, bar etc. smell like urine. I didn't expect much for the price but both hotels have seen better days. The staff is OK but not helpful or interested in you as a guest whatsoever. If you're young and only stay to crash there it's fine. It's location is good. But if like a pleasant and clean place stay away.

Do not recommend!!!

The pictures are very deceiving. The bathroom seemed larger than the rooms itself. The bathroom was a locker style bathroom with no shower curtain and a drain in the center of the bathroom (between the sink and toilett????. . . totally threw me off). The lobby area smelled like urine. Service wasn’t all that great either.
