Love it
By ,
One of the best deals in the city. Most of us that earn under 200K a year will be pleasantly surprised. I think it's a better stay than the Imperial Palace or Circus, Circus, Excalibur or any of the downtown hotels in Vegas (I've patroned at least 5 of them) and those are Hotels not Motels. In my opinion the best location in town. Snuggled on Broadway, the imaginary line between Chinatown and North Beach (little Italy). We've stayed here since 1990 and will continue to in the future. We have no problem walking to Fishermans Wharf, Pier 39, Embarcadero, Jackson Square, Union Square. There are even 2 comedy clubs within a few blocks both within walking distance. If you're in town Sunday through Thursday check the lobby's free internet to check for a COMEDY SHOWCASE. The clubs in town alternate the nights so local comics can get on stage and freshen their acts before heading on the California/Nevada circuit. usually can catch at least 10 act for about $8-10 per person w/2 drink min. I'ts always a good show. Free parking is unheard of in SF. Marriotte once convinced us to stay at their timeshare on the Wharf and even though the room was free for 2 nights the parking fee was still $70 pls tx, can't imagine adding their $189 per night room rate. We had to dive to all our favorite spots, what a nightmare in SF traffic and parking. This for a 3 star not a 4 or 5 star hotel. Back to food..no need to spend big bucks unless you want to. L Osteria del Forno on Columbus is great but, expect a wait mingling with locals and tourist. For good Chinese food I recommend Yuet Lee across the street from the RP. Try a "hot pot" of pork and oysters with a side of steamed rice and Chinese broccoli. if that doesn't fill you up cheap, then walk up the street to Ho's Dim Sum..I gurantee 3 maybe.. 4 people can fill up under $20. The hotel has free wi-fi and comp. in lobby to look for directions of all these spots and more. Oh, and don't bother hurrying in the morning. Just pull on some sweats and sweat shirt head to the lobby for a complimentary paper then next door to "You's Dim Sum" a "to go" spot for some morning DIM SUM..or chinese pastery. You can also head a couple doors down and buy some fresh fruit return to the hotel or make a circle up Stockton to Vallejo to Grant and have the best coffee's and Italian pastry you might ever have..can't remeber the name of the place but, ran into it by accident walking one morning probably 10 years ago. Ever since i just stop there on my morning walk as my wife sleeps in almost every time I'm in town. The day crew are a little rude but, SF hotel staff are union so, most have worked here the entire 20 years i've patroned and they know they have a great spot and most will come back..all this greatness has to have some negative. Just don't take it personal and remeber they are rude to all their regulars too. There are places on Lombard west of VanNess comparable but, that's too far to what we love about SF.

Great Little Find
By ,
We loved the location and walked from the hotel around Chinatown, and to Union Square, Fishermans Wharf, Lombard Street, Coit Tower, and Nob Hill. We sat on the balcony of our room and watch a dancing dragon in the chinese restaurant across the street wind its way downstairs and out into the street. The room was adequate, nothing fancy, but thats not why you stay here. This hotel is all about the location it sits to so many other attractions. We will definately return.

Great Value.
By ,
Location is great. We do a lot of walking to North Beach, Union Square, Fishermans Wharf, etc. Can't beat free parking. We have been back many times over the years and the service has always been great and staff friendly. Be sure to ask for the inside rooms, they are a lot quieter. Rooms are clean. View is not bad. Lots of hole-in-the-walls with great tasting food. Great area for exploring.

A great place to stay
By ,
Our room was recently remodeled and was very clean, quiet, and comfortable. The front desk was very helpful in helping us navigate the city and suggesting places to go/eat in Chinatown. The hotel is walking distance to many attractions, there is a cafe/bakery right next door, and a short walk to bus stop. The only downside was being fairly close to adult clubs/entertainment on Broadway, but we very quickly figured out how to avoid this. Price was very reasonable and parking was free!!!

Greatly changed.
By ,
The rooms were newly remodeled just last year. Say good-bye to smoke-smelling rooms. Almost everything about the rooms have changed. Only a walking distance to food and attractions. Free parking. Internet access at the front desk for guests only. Great price. It's perfect!

Never Again!!!
By ,
The receptionist was unprofessional, rude and unfriendly. She should be kept as far away from people as possible! The "supposedly clean" towels, sheets and pillows smelled like perspiration, totally disgusting! The "Air conditioning" consisted of an old dusty fan in front of the bed. The noise was continuous-all night long! The worst part is that they charged more for the room than I was quoted. When I told her about it, she said I should've taken the other room, like I know what room costs what? I went to the room they sent me to! So don't believe the quote they tell you over the phone. Bad business practice all around. Old, dirty, noisy and disgusting. Too expensive for such poor quality!

AWFUL!!!!! DO NOT GO THERE!
By ,
COLD FACED RECEPTIONISTS WILL NOT SMILE AT YOU! I TOOK MY FAMILY TO SF AND STAYED AT THIS HOTEL WHICH IS DIRTY & SMELLY. PEOPLE SMOKE AT THE ELEVATOR AND NO FREE BREAKFAST AS THEY ADVERTISE YOU! THEY SAID COFFEE MAKER & OLD DRIED $99 CENT COOKIES (2 FOR 4 PEOPLE) ON THE ROOM TABLE IS YOUR COMPLEMENTARY BREAKFAST! ONLY GOOD THING IS HERE IS LOCATION-CLOSE TO MOST OF THE ATTRACTIONS. OTHERWISE IF YOU WANT TO SLEEP IN A QUITE ROOM YOU DO NOT WANT TO STAY HERE.

Very Satisfactory Accommodations!
By ,
Accommodations were satisfactory for the price. Friendly staff. Location is easily accessible to sighseeing sites and restaurants. My only wish would be that their pillows were more substantial (a little too flat...).

parking, walking, hipster fun
By ,
Okay, do you want a classic motel type lodging? with parking... in San Francisco!!! This is the place, great location to roam Chinatown, North Beach , etc. In a time where places are losing charm, the Royal Pacific still holds true to the classic beat poet esq lodging in the city. The front balcony rooms are great for people watching ( a bit noisy, but it is a city). The biggest perk is the parking, but you can always walk up the street to catch the cable car if you feel touristy or simply put the ol' dogs to the pavement and see the city! Not a 5 star hotel, but a 5 star slice of the past......so grab a coffee, get introspective, check out City Lights bookstore and get hip...man. peace.

Look No Further This Is the Best Deal You Will Find
By ,
We've stayed here more times that I can count on one hand. The location is fantastic and parking the car under covered parking right in front of the entry door knowing it is safe and nearby gives you a wonderful peace of mind. Park, check-in and take off on foot to Chinatown, North Beach or Fisherman's Wharf...all walkable. Shop till you drop and eat the best Chinese food you will find anywhere in the world within blocks. The staff is efficient and professional. Coffee and breakfast rolls are complimentary. The price has stayed the same for years. You can't go wrong.
