Awful, Awful, Awful!!
We have had the opportunity to stay at several of the area hotels, and had the opportunity to try this hotel at an incredible price so we decided to do so. After all, the pictures make the hotel look somewhat inviting and we hadn't gotten a good look at the hotel before going to check in.
Let me begin by saying that we ended up checking out shortly after checking in. There wasn't a price in the world that would have coaxed us into staying at this hotel.
Where to begin...the staff was pleasant enough. My husband checked in and we went around the back of the hotel to get to our room. We had to pass by huge bins of dirty laundry and garbage to access the hotel.
Once entering, we waited at one of the two working elevators to go up to our room. We knew ahead of time that one would not be working, but did not expect to have to wait so long. Several times we had large, aggressive parties cut in front of us to get on the elevator. We finally got on an elevator and were let off at an ugly, unappealing foyer and went out onto the outdoor corridor to get to our room. Neither the foyer nor the corridor were well kept up, with leaking air conditioners making the floor a bit slippery in places.
Despite the fact that this is a non-smoking hotel we had to pass smokers outside to get to our room. Once inside the room we couldn't decide which was worse, the musty smell or the faint odor of cigarette smoke, presumably from those smoking outside. If you suffer from allergies you will need your allergy medicine, both my husband and I began experiencing symptoms almost immediately.
The one highlight to this hotel is that the mattresses were recently replaced and looked fairly comfortable. The room was given a poorly done partial makeover. Why they did not choose to replace the severely yellowed shower surround in a claustrophobic, closet-sized bathroom is beyond me.
Like the hotel itself, much of the room seemed to be in a state of disrepair.
We also happened to be there while the fireworks were going off. Even though we were on the back side of the hotel the fireworks were extremely loud (louder even than when watching from the park) and may bother small children or those planning on going to bed before 9:45 pm on any night.
The outdoor configuration also seemed to exacerbate the noise from people coming and going, so in the short time we were there we heard plenty of loud families.
Given the disrepair, odor and unsafe feeling we chose to check out and go to another hotel. In our opinion, in is worth an extra hundred dollars or so it will cost you for the duration of your stay at a much nicer hotel to truly enjoy the entire Disney or Southern California vacation experience. Just be careful, while there are many nice hotels in the area, there are also many that are dated and in disrepair like this one.
On a final note, the hotel is very close to Disneyland, but after spending all day at the park you may not want to walk even that distance back to your hotel.
