Not the best, but ok...
The first night we were placed in a great Jr. Suite on the 2nd floor with a HUGE balcony but overlooking the rooftop of a mexican restuarant next door so that made the view ugly...not to mention the upstairs neighbors being so LOUD all night long...I swear I thought Zi was at home with my LOUD apartment neighbors. I complained to the office and they sent someone promptly to tell them to be quite which made them louder, I complained in person the next morning and they freely moved us to a better room...well, better to them,. It was another Jr. Suite on the 3rd floor this time which was exquisite, however the balcony was barely big enough to stand on and it was much smaller on the inside and had no wet bar ...hmmm ??? so better view, but less quality room? The staff was very friendly which made up for it all!!! I'm not sure I'd stay there again because the walls and floors are so paper thin...but all in all, it was a good vacation.

pet friendly and fun
By traveler, 9/4/11
We had a great time on the beach with my dog. The staff was nice and the room was cozy and quiet. Make sure to ask question at the time of reservation because not all rooms are walk out balcony or ocean view but they were able to meet all my needs.

To far from San Francisco
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/16/11
The check-in girls were absolutely wonderful. The Lighthouse Hotel boasts of every room having a balcony. They do, but most are just 22 inches deep. In my opinion that's not a balcony, it's a ledge with a railing. The room we had did not give you a balcony at all and you were looking at the roof top for the rooms across from you. The restaurant in the hotel has an awsome seaview, no sugar free products when my wife (diabetic) asked on three different occasions. A lot of the buildings in the surrounding area are old or empty. Nicks across the street was a liitle high price for what they offered. A taxi ride to San Francisco Pier will cost you minimum $75.00. You can take the bus, bart and trolley and it will cost you around $ 20.00 for one person (but you have go by their schedules). You are better off staying downtown if you want to see San Francisco.

By sherry, 8/13/08
My boyfriend and I can't wait to go back the first time we stayed we were so pleased with the room, the view of the ocean, the sunset, the staff, and of course the resturants. there was nothing to complain about everything was perfect!!!! W e have retured at least 2 other times and recieved the same treatment. I would reccomend this place to anyone looking for a romantic getaway or a place just to relax.

Nice view, average overall
By Craig G, 8/21/07
My wife and our three older children had a larger suite, which gave us a nice view of the sea. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant. We had breakfast at Katie's Kitchen and pizza from Viva Italiano, both of which we highly recommend. The pool wasn't an option while we were there since the marine layer hung over the coast and it's generally cooler there. There was overflowing trash in the receptacles near the elevators and meal trays and dishes near several rooms in the hallways that weren't cleared in the two nights we were there. Apart from the view, it's very average. A better stay might be had at the Holiday Inn Express across the street.

Great Getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/7/06
Love it! Great place to go for a short romantic getaway. Love the view. Listening to the ocean while you sleep is very soothing. We only have two gripes, one is the no smoking (sorry we smoke), two is the balconies are so small they're a little scary. BUT that doesn't stop us. My husband and I love it there and we'll continue to go.

Okay Hotel, Horrible restaurant
By MattB, 7/23/06
The veiw is nice and it is great to hear the ocean while you sleep. But me and my wife went to the restaurant for cocktails. Ended up paying $15.00 each for a long island iced tea. When I asked the owner why so much he said he does not know what the bar charges. It was unpleasant to pay so much for sub-par cocktails. Later that night we went to Nick's Restaurant across the street "Awesome" and the drinks were half the price. Great meal too.

deceptive advertizing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/27/06
The Lighthouse Hotel boasts of every room having a balcony. They do, but most are just 22 inches deep. In my opinion that's not a balcony, it's a ledge with a railing. Our "partial ocean view" was over the unattractive roof of the restaurant building. The restaurant has an awsome seaview but the hermeticlly sealed windows admit neither the sea smell nor the sound of the surf, which detracts from the experience.
