Best Hotel For The Price..
By Starla, 12/27/09
I flew from Oklahoma to take my 7 year old grandson to a concert at Madison Square Garden. After doing massive online research I decided to fly into Newark and stay in Newark and take the NJ Transit to NYC. The staff is beyond words, so friendly, so professional, absolutely amazing. The room was so-so. I didn't go to get a top notch room tho. We literally slept, showered and dressed in the room. The rest of the time we were out and about doing and seeing. I liked the fact that no matter when we came in they were on duty and asked how our day went. We Amtraked to DC one day and they gave us tips on what to do and what was a waste of time/money. Same with transportation into NYC. They told me exactly how to get where I needed to go and how to get there the least expensive way. I liked the indoor pool and having a decent restaurant on premises. I have already recommended the Newark Sheraton to anyone who would listen

Don't Stay at this Sheraton!
By Vietnam Vet, 03/14/09
We stayed 2 nights to guarantee sailing from Port Liberty. We booked in advance, once on our own, once with the cruise lines and had 2 different amounts but stayed in the same room. The 2nd night was booked thru the cruise line and very overpriced. 2d night we were awakened by a loud party in the room above ours. A complaint call made to the front desk took nearly an hour to get anyone up there to breakup the party. Food choices were lousy and overpriced. Stay elsewhere.

Cheap price compared to hotels in Manhattan
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/04/08
Overall the hotel was average...not bad and and not great. The pool is in the lobby which I thought was odd. The room was large and clean. We wanted a place to sleep for our night out in NY, this was the cheapest place. Getting to NY was easy. We caught the airport shuttle to the airport and hopped on NJ transit train. It was 15 dollars one way. If you do a lot of business in the NY area...this may be cheapest but not trashy place.

Plus and minus
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/07/07
Room was very clean, staff was very friendly. The value can't be beat for the quality of the hotel. The only problem was getting in to New York City, which is why we were there. Had to use a car service costing $20.00 each way ,just to get to the Path train service and then the fares for the train. If you are looking for convience to be close to the Newark airport , this is great place. Look elsewhere for easier access to New York.

INSECT INFESTATION........
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/28/07
SHORT AND SWEET - BAD CASE OF BED BUGS....... I stayed at this hotel during a recent Mercedes-Benz management event, it was a one night stay. Upon arriving to the hotel and checking in, I found that they had our reservations all messed up. Not a huge deal, as I know that mistakes happen to everyone. Because I am very easy going and know that no one is perfect, I chose to overlook this blunder. Needless to say, as I awoke on the morning on the following day I found myself to have an extreme itching sensation and found that I had red bumps - both large and small all over my arms and legs and partially on my feet and ankles. There were no red bumps on the areas that were under the covered area of the clothing that I had worn to bed that night. REST ASSURED, THIS IS NOT CHICKEN POX OR MEASELS. After examinging myself in the mirror and having my business collegue take a look at my bumps, we had both come to the conclusion that these red marks must have been the result of some type of insect(s) that had attacked me during the night while I was asleep. After contacting the hotel to inform them of this issue, they stated that they brought in an outside contractor to inspect the room which after which they stated that they found no signs of any presence of any type of insects. I find it hard to believe that they would divulge any information that stated that they DID find an insect infestation in one of their rooms to suppress any negative press about them getting out. I travel my fair share and have been to numerous Sheraton Hotels and have had really good stays there. However, I will never go back to this place. It gives me the Hee Bee Geebies just thinking about it. Other than that, the food was good and the service was average to good. I give the service a poor rating because of how I was left out to dry in getting back to me. I am in the customer service industry and I can tell that the management that I dealt with was less than helpful. That being said, I would not wish this condition on my worst enemy and will never go back to that establishment ever again. Stay here at your own risk.

Great for park and fly
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/05/07
Staff were friendly and helpful- we took the park and fly package where we came in from CT, parked our car for 15 days (they charged us for the extra 5 days even though we also stayed there upon our return- would have been nice if they had given us the 5 days for free).

Exceeded expectations
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/03/06
For a hotel in this price range it was very nice. Very clean. But what was most impressive was the 2 gentlemen who worked at the concierge counter. I needed directions to my event the next day and they spent a lot of time with me printing maps and explaining how to get around the city. They were very patient and helpful.
